Mohanji Speaks – Zoom satsang with Mohanji
on 10th November 2019
Question 1: Can Mohanji give Shaktipat through various means – such as touch, words, sight, photo, etc.?
First of all, we need to understand what Shaktipat is. The word Shaktipat means activating the Shakti energy within us, which means, activating the Kundalini energy. Kundalini energy gets activated when you are in alignment. What is alignment? Alignment is basically the alignment of your body, mind, intellect, ego, and spirit together, which means you’re not scattered. When you are in total alignment to yourself, that’s when the Kundalini Shakti emerges and activates the whole channels and one attains enlightenment.
So, activation is possible whenever you are in certain states. It’s not necessarily through touch only. Sometimes people have attained enlightenment just by looking at a picture or through practices. There are numerous ways activation can happen. It’s not necessarily through touch only. Activation is certainly possible, provided you are ready to be aligned. First of all, the seeker should stop seeking things outside. It’s not about practices. It’s not about people. It’s not about places. It’s not about anything external. It’s about total alignment INSIDE for which you need to introspect, you need to come within and feel the inside, and be totally occupied with the consciousness within.
Let me explain it in a different way. We have distinct three states every day, which we know. In 24 hours, we go through a waking state – as in when we are awake. Then we go through a state of dreams – dreaming state, there also we are aware and that’s the state where it’s almost as real as the waking state except that it does not depend on anything outside of us. It’s sourced from inside us. Third is the deep sleep state where you are totally nullified. It’s almost like a death state. These three states are happening. At some point in time, you start witnessing the waking state, the dream state and the deep sleep state from an external point of view. You will probably be just a witness at a certain point in time as you practice. Then that witness-hood will give you a state where you are a total witness and you are not affected by any of these three states. That’s a state of total alignment.
When you come across or come in contact with a person who has already attained that state, and you spend sufficient time connecting to this consciousness or interacting, not even physically, by just thinking about him, by remembering him or looking at him as a kind of benchmark/ a guideline/ or a milestone, (in whichever way you’re consistently connecting to that particular individual who has already attained that state) then you also tend to come into that state faster. This is what I call integration.
When you integrate yourself into a particular person, who has attained a particular state, then you also attain that state faster. The point is that, if the wood is dry, a small spark is enough to catch fire. But the wood should be dry, this is the point. Otherwise, you can use lots of matchsticks, but the wood will not catch fire because the wood is wet. So, the whole point is, are we aligned? Are we completely in tune for that particular alignment?
When we don’t depend on anything external and we are trying to find Divinity inside us, this spark or the energy activates all the things. When we stop looking at us as a whole mechanism, instead we know very well that we are also connected to the whole universe, and when we come to terms with ourselves in that way, at that time, just a look, just a glance, just a touch, whatever it is, Shaktipat is possible.
A story
I’ll give you another example. The story of Papaji, I’m sure many of you know. Papaji was a great devotee, a bhakti yogi. He was chanting the name of the Lord all the time. He was fully occupied and fully immersed in that energy. He had a situation where he was in the very North of India at one time. That was the time when the British were ruling. He was asking a question to any saint or saintly people that he met, “Can you show me, God?” Everybody gave some answers, but he was not satisfied with the answers. One day a man came and asked for food. Papaji offered some food and asked him if he can show God. This man said, “I cannot show you God, but there is somebody in the South, in a place called Arunachala, and he can show you, God”.
Papaji was trying to find a way to reach the south and fortunately got a job in Madras constituency at that time in the military. He joined that job. As soon as possible, he went to Arunachala. When he went to Arunachala and saw that man, he saw the same person who came to his house. And he was so disappointed, thinking this guy was a propagandist who goes around telling people that he is God and he can show God etc. Papaji felt very disappointed and he was coming out of the place where Ramana Maharishi lived (the man whom Papaji thought was a propagandist).
Someone who saw him coming out asked, “Where are you going? You just came in.” Papaji replied, “Oh, this man came to my house up North and said, “Come here. I will show you, God.” I don’t like to work with anybody who’s a propagandist. He’s just trying to promote himself.” Then this man said, “My friend, this man has not left this place for the last 35 years. How do you say that he came to the North of India? Every day we are seeing him and for 35 years he is living here. Only then Papaji realised that this was a powerful Master who can be in any place, anywhere without the body – without actually physically moving.
Then Papaji came to Ramana Maharishi and said, “Oh, you told me you will show me God. Show me, God.” But Ramana Maharishi did not even look at him. Papaji was disappointed. He went back and continued chanting every day. One night, he could not chant anymore. He felt that all the chanting which he had been doing had completely dissolved and he was not remembering any of the mantras. He was so disillusioned that he wanted to have an answer. He went straight to Ramana Maharishi. It was early in the morning when Papaji reached there. That’s the time when Ramana Maharishi was going for a bath.
Papaji went running up to him. Ramana Maharishi just turned around and glanced at him. Just one look. Standing there, Papaji became enlightened. By that time the wood was dry, very dry, ready for the spark. And Ramana Maharishi’s one glance was enough to light the fire. There was no conversation. There was no discussion. Just a glance and the wood caught fire, just like that. If it’s dry wood, it doesn’t take any time to catch the fire.
So, Shaktipat, the activation of Shakti is possible if the person is ready. Otherwise, there’s nothing you can do. You can see in certain states where people shiver and the foam comes from the mouth, etc. They are all signs that the Kundalini energy is stuck somewhere or it’s not moving smoothly. Real experience would be a pleasurable experience, it will be like ecstasy. So, the answer to the question is that anything is possible, provided the person is ready for something like that.
Question 2: What is your opinion about in vitro fertilisation (IVF)? And what is the karmic impact of this? Should couples seek medical assistance when they cannot conceive naturally?
I don’t have any problem. I only have a problem with destroying the child or the baby in the womb (abortion), which I strongly object to. Otherwise, it is up to the individual. If they are supposed to have a baby, that will happen, definitely.
Question 3: How to be always present or be in awareness?
For that you need to start with self-acceptance. Whatever you are, whatever you are experiencing, whatever has come to you, or whatever state you’re in at any point in time, they all have synchronicity. There is a continuum. That means from your birth till your death, you’re going through various situations, various states, various relationships, various flavours of life. All flavours have value. We can’t really say something is right, something is wrong, something is good, something is bad, etc. Everything has a value in terms of experience. So, when you start understanding and accepting that, you are always in the present, because every moment the ‘present’ provides you with your set of experiences. An experience which has already happened has provided you all the flavours that can be taken from that experience. For example, a fruit that has already been sucked off all its juice will not give you any more. Even if you keep on chewing the balance, it will not give you any more. Like that, what happens right now, what you have at this point in time, that’s your reality. If you keep moving from reality to reality to reality all the time, if you are being in the present all the time, then you are in an absolute experience mode.
And that’s exactly where you come out of the basic inclinations which are the driving force. We have our set of inclinations, which is our flavour on Earth. This is exactly how we are operating on Earth. Remember, ACCEPTANCE is a real thing. In fact, if you accept yourself totally and completely, you are actually in an experience mode – every moment, at every point in time. “YOU ARE FINE.” That is exactly what perpetual meditation is. You are in the present all the time.
As I said earlier, we have three states. When we are a witness to all the 3 states – the waking state, the dream state and the deep sleep state, you reach the TURIYA state – a state of full witness-hood. That is a state of total alignment. Though the dream state and deep sleep state are not easy to witness, eventually when you closely witness the waking state without attachment, you will spontaneously raise it to the other 2 states – the dream state and deep sleep state as well. In the present you have to be a witness. Whatever is happening, for every action, for everything that is happening in life, understand that there is a reason for it. There is a history (past), there is a present and there will be a future as well. There is always continuity.
If you accept this continuity and keep flowing, then everything will start making sense to you. Otherwise, we will only see fragments and we will always complain, “Why is it happening?” There are so many complaints, so much of resistance, so many levels of resistance and all this add to pain and suffering. When there is an event and if you feel detached from the event – meaning you have no pleasure or pain, but you are just witnessing it; in that mode, you can transcend the whole life.
If you stop judging, criticizing, abusing, scandalising etc., you are free. These are the things which are binding you to Earth. Because when you move into that kind of a mode, you get sucked into it and it’s not easy to get out. Also, it takes a lot of time to get out. So, if you’re fine with yourself, you’re fine with your situation, if you are fine with the flow of life, then everything is flowing smoothly and you’re happy with it. Adding to it, when you’re in a witness mode and you are not complaining criticising, judging, etc., life then will give you the best fruits. Otherwise there will be a lot of resistance and pain. That’s exactly what we see in the world today.
Question 4: Is it possible to reach liberation only from the state of sattva or is it possible from the state of rajas as well?
Rajas is always a state of turbulence. This is a state where you are reasonably unsettled. In this action mode, we are like a pendulum, oscillating between the good and the bad. You need to sit down and stabilise yourself to reach enlightenment. Tamas is worse, it is procrastination. Rajas is action. People find a lot of happiness in movement, in action, and they feel that they’re doing a lot of things, but it can drag you into things. In the state of sattva, you can develop witness hood. You are in action, but you have no ownership. You are in a mode of selfless action. When you do more and more selfless actions, purification automatically happens, detachment happens, and it helps to transcend into levels where you are completely in an equanimous mode.
So, from rajas to move into enlightenment is not easy. But do not think that all actions are rajasic actions. Some Masters, after attaining enlightenment, move into hyper-action. But those actions have no ownership attached – they are not karmic actions. They are not for pleasure or for the experience. They are for the sake of dharma (righteous duty). The same thing happens with an Avatar (a divine incarnation) as well. An Avatar comes with a full purpose, the purpose of preserving dharma usually. They come, they deliver, and they leave. They are not here to experience the pleasures and pains of a worldly existence. They are here to bring people out from that ‘pleasure and pain’ situation. They bring people to an awareness that this pleasure and pain situation has happened over lifetimes.
We have gone through various lifetimes having the same kind of experiences, same patterns, same agonies, same ecstasies etc. Now it is time, we should come out of it. We should see the larger picture and see the whole story from a different perspective. These beings (Avatars) who come for the sake of preserving dharma, live their lives as normal/common people, just like Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. They lived a very natural life. They studied under a guru, they got married, and they did everything just like an ordinary person. They lived a very ordinary life, so that people can connect to them. If they came with a particular state, if Krishna showed his Vishwaroopa (Universal form or omnipresent form) which is full brightness, nobody would be able to see, nobody can actually look at it because it would be too bright. It’s important to understand that they all lived their lives as ordinary as possible, as normal as possible, so that people could connect to them. Otherwise, people will say, “Oh that was Krishna; that was Rama. How can we be like that? That is why they lived their lives like that. When you are completely in a mode of equanimity, when you reach a level of stability – that is sattva state – and then to reach a state of extreme action, while being in inaction, is possible. When I say inaction, it’s not a lack of action; it’s a lack of ‘attachment to action,’ which is possible. But in a rajasic mode, it is always action with ownership and it is very difficult to change action into inaction. That is not possible because it’s not easy.
In a rajasic mode, you always look for a result. You’re doing something because you have an expected result. You do a thing for the sake of something. Usually it is pleasure or some kind of gratification, and the result is either pleasure or pain. But you have no complete control over the result. You can only do a particular action with a particular intention, but you have no control over the result. So, in a rajasic mode, this is the issue.
In a sattvic mode, you don’t really worry about the result, but you continuously do action without ownership. It helps you to stabilise your mind. Without ownership, thoughts are less and the thrust of karma is less because you are in a kind of detached mode. Whatever happens, whatever result may happen, you do what is right for you. What is right for you may not be understandable to the whole world, because they only see things from their own viewpoint. They have their own set of concepts, prejudices, etc. Hence, they look at the world and they look at each person/situation through their own eyes. So, don’t expect that everybody will understand the activities of a Master, how they operate, why they operate, or why they do certain things.
A person who is fully occupied in a selfless mode may not be well understood by the society, but it doesn’t matter. We do our thing and we have to express our uniqueness into this world. And that’s what all these great Masters have done. And most of these Masters were not understood at their time. That is because the people only see as per their frequency, they can’t see the truth. This is the point. So, in a rajasic mode it is not easy to attain liberation, because desires are still present.
Question 5: is it possible to pick up energies and feelings from WhatsApp groups that we are part of?
Every communication is a transaction. Everything is an energy exchange. And today I think most of the time we are occupied with the gadgets, phones and various machines. An energy exchange is happening certainly. That is why we get so excited when there are so many likes for our post. Or we get disappointed when nobody likes our post etc. So, there is an emotion exchange. Emotion is energy in motion. There is an energy exchange happening. I would always say that if a material is negative, don’t even touch it. When someone is speaking ill about somebody, if it is gossip, and if it is not pertaining to your life or if that information will not give you a positive transformation, don’t touch it because you don’t need it. It makes your mind heavier and more unsettled.
Any information which enhances your energy, makes you brighter, activates you, brings you out of procrastination, is a good message. But anything which gives you dilemmas, confusion, anger, hatred, jealousy, or those kinds of emotions is not good because they add to nothing. In fact, they add to your fall in frequency. I would say that it is very important that we stay focused on positivity because it’s a consistent effort. It’s an every-moment effort. We have to stay focused on positivity so that we stay stable. Otherwise we have ups and downs. Usually the messages which contaminate are opinions. They are mostly and usually not truths. They are opinions and they immediately reduce your frequency through confusion. That’s why I always say, the evil enters your mind as a doubt. Once it enters your mind, then it stays in the mind and it operates through the mind. A doubt is enough to topple you; one doubt is enough.
This is what we sometimes see in the newspapers/media. There is a question mark, “Is he the culprit?” They put a question mark. The newspaper is not saying, “He is the culprit,” but they put a doubt in your mind. And you’re already prejudiced. Then you look at everything with that prejudice. Automatically, your opinions are flavoured because you have prejudice in the mind. These are the materials which you should completely avoid. When people talk about other people to me, I always tell one thing, “Thank you for the information. Keep it with you. This is precious for you but not for me. I do not need it. I know the person; I trust the person; even if that person is not good as you say, I have no problem, because my connection with that person is different.” So, it’s all individual relationships. It’s how we interact with people, and how we are with people.
A lot of these interactions are to do with us – about 70% with us and 30% with the world outside. Because how we are, that’s how we get a response. If we are completely love, we get showers of love and there’s no other way. That’s the seed we are sowing. But, if we have prejudices, if we have doubts, if we have many different complexes, that’s exactly what we get back. So, don’t look at the whole world as puritanical perfection, it’s not true. It’s not so.
And now, religions have created a lot of boundaries. Quite a lot of boundaries and the world is divided into lots of pieces. God knows how many pieces. And it’s mostly in the name of religions and languages. Actually, if you look at the whole world, you remove all these pieces and look at the world, all people, all birds, all animals, all insects, all creatures are only looking for peace of mind, just to be peaceful, just to exist in this world peacefully. That’s what we need. And all they need is the food of love, because the world’s nature has its structure, it has its proper structure, and all the beings in the nature have their duties/responsibilities. And within those boundaries, they are all perfect.
But we human beings/species have completely derailed the whole pattern, the whole planet. We have destroyed many species. We have polluted the earth, wind, air and water. We have done so much damage already. Now look at religions. Religions are for the sake of people. They are roadmaps. They are guidance for the people to attain God. But today, we look at people as religions. That’s completely the wrong way of looking at it. People are people and religions only exist during the waking state. In the dream state and deep sleep state, which religion are you? So, it’s a waking state thing. In the waking state, why do we segregate people, segregate the world with religious connotations? I fail to understand.
People can have religions as roadmaps, as guidance from great Masters, as methods, as patterns of worship, etc., which is okay. But do not have religions to control people, to own people, to segregate people or to divide people. That is not okay. That’s absolutely not acceptable. It is the same with languages. What language suits you, what is spontaneous to you, whatever is your mother tongue, probably that is exactly what you have to use. But you remove the languages and look at the people. The whole world has one language, the language of love. Everybody understands the language of love. Everybody understands the language of fear as well. But that’s a negative language. When you are in fear, you are not yourself. You are compelled or you are restricted into something. But if it’s love, you are expanded. You are fully in the world. You are beautiful. You are energised. This is exactly what is needed today.
So, the point I’m trying to say is that – we are all unique human beings, but we have one thing in common. We love to love and we love LOVE. This should be the message for the future. It’s time for unification based on love, based on kindness, based on compassion, based on selflessness. This unification is a must. The time for division ends here, it’s already ended. Now it’s time for unification. So, if all the people are trying to unify based on love, you will see the difference in the world. There will be no wars, no displacements, no bloodshed, no deprivation, no denial, nothing. Selfishness and other things will automatically eradicate themselves and die; they will die spontaneously because everybody is happy. We can create this. We have 7.5 billion people out there. All that people need is stability and love. And we must focus on that. Division by religions should end completely because religions are for people, not people for religions. This has to be understood.

Zoom Satsang 7 July 2019, part 1
Question: Can people who do Kriya regularly, but are not an active participant in the Foundation or have the need to be in close physical proximity to you, still evolve spiritually?
Mohanji: Physical proximity is an illusion. By sitting next to me you probably may not gain a lot. If your mind is connected to me wherever you are, if your mind is connected to me, you are with me. There are a lot of people who might be around me physically, but their mind is elsewhere, those people are not with me. So the connection is always the connection of the mind. When we see our parents, our grandparents, our relatives, when our mind is with them, we are with them. When the mind is elsewhere, we are not there. Many people live together but they are not close, and you always see that in life.
When we really love somebody, we will whisper, when we do not like somebody we shout. See the tone of our voice. It’s mostly connected to the depth of our affection. You can almost take it as a benchmark. When you are shouting, screaming etc. means you’re already separated. When you’re really close to somebody you’ll be whispering, that expression will be there.
Kriya is a tool. It’s a method to stabilize and align yourself. A child who is born is already aligned. There’s no alignment needed. What are you aligning? The mind, intellect, and ego called mind matter. Mind matter is the faculty of perception. That is how we see the world. There are millions of things in this world. To experience them we have the mind, intellect and ego. Of course, through the senses eyes, ears, nose, mouth and skin, we experience life around us. And to actually feel it, we have the mind, which is the emotions, intellect, analysis, ego, and the personality through which we experience life. We feel life, we relish or we taste life.
In this mode, what you actually are, that lack of alignment is when it’s all spread out. Body is already aligned, spirit, the energy which operates the body is aligned. Mind, intellect and ego are all over, sometimes in the past, sometimes in the future, and hardly in the present. So we are bringing this mind, intellect and ego together. Body, mind, intellect, ego and spirit together, you become one unit. At that point in time, when you look, the whole faculty looks. Otherwise, your eyes will be looking and if the mind is elsewhere, you don’t see. If your eyes are looking and your mind is also looking through your eyes, you experience reality. When you’re eating food, you’re consuming something, when the food is in your mouth and your mind is with your tongue, then you actually feel the taste of the food. Otherwise when you’re eating, and your mind is on the TV, you’re fully occupied, eyes are on the TV and the mind is on the TV, you don’t even know how much you ate.
Your life depends on where you’re focusing. Where your mind is. Kriya and all the meditations and the numerous methods are all to align yourself to a level where you are fully there, right now, right here, all the time. This is in waking-up time. In the dream state you have an active state but you don’t have any control over that state. In the dream state, the data which you are using is the stored data, what you’ve collected, or what is stored inside. They have all come from experiences. Experiences become a memory, the memory becomes an impression, the impression gets stored, and they manifest in the screen of dreams or in the screen of waking state. Deep sleep state is the same as the death state, you don’t even know whether you’re a man or a woman, you don’t know the time or space. You’re completely dead, then you wake up in the morning, again you are a personality and that personality is maintained by the ego. I’m so and so and this is my existence. I’m connected to all my positions and possessions and relations. All these things come when you wake up. When you’re dreaming, that’s all different. Probably you are the president of America in your dream. So the boundaries change, things change. Everything changes in the dream state and the dream state sources from what is stored inside. The waking state is connected to the world outside, usually.
That is why at that point in time, meditation is very important. That means while in the waking state and being awake, you’re turning the mind, intellect, and ego, within. When all these faculties are turned inside, that means the senses are closed, there is no world outside, while awake with awareness. When you are focused inside, all you see is what you have stored over a period of time, from your experiences. Experiences have their connection to actions, thoughts, and words, the chronology of life.
To cut across all this, to think vertically, you’re connecting to the higher awareness through a Kriya or meditation and all these things. If you are doing that, it is for you. Now your connection with me, it is called integration. That means you identified Mohanji as a person who’s stable or who’s aligned, this is probably what brings you to me. If you are aware of that, and you’re thinking about me, remembering me, or connecting to me with your mind, intellect, and ego, whichever faculty or mind matter, then you are with me. You don’t have to be physically with me, and by physically being with me, there’s no guarantee that you are actually with me.
Also, I am not insisting that you should work within this Foundation, I only say be good and do good in your society and how much brightness you can bring to your society, in your neighborhood. That’s all you need to do. You don’t have to do through the Foundation, through anybody. You can perform the way you can. That’s why I said to feed the birds; feed the animals, people, the sick and the old. Do whatever you can in your society to enhance the lives of people and the beings around you. I call everybody people. There are people of every species. Every species has a personality. A cat has its personality, a dog has its personality. All beings have their personality. When a being has a personality, it’s a person. A person has a personality. So by being available and being useful to this society, you are being with me, you’re connecting to me, that’s the activity which I’m asking you to do. I’m not asking you to be in the Foundation or to operate only through the Foundation, but it will be helpful because in the Foundation people inspire each other, they all support each other, and you will understand, okay, this is what we’re doing in the world.
As I said, this year, the main theme is practicing positivity. That is because so many things are negative. You open the newspaper or on the TV, and all you see is negative news. People killing people, people on the verge of war, people not agreeing with each other, they are shouting and screaming and making life miserable. This is what we see in this world. So how do you stay positive – through acts of positivity, through positive thoughts, positive words, and positive actions. That’s why I said this year the main practice is practicing positivity during waking hours. So that your self-esteem grows and your value in this world increases. And in that mode, you are being very effective in this life.
As I said earlier, the effective years are very important. Effective moments are important. Effective time is important. Effective time is when you are actually available for this world outside and you’re delivering. Not when you’re eating, drinking, sleeping and you’re just immersed in your own activities. See, that’s very comfortable. Today, the world has shrunk to a tablet or a mobile phone. Our world is a mobile phone. We don’t even need eye contact. You don’t have to look at people and you are very happy to be emotional with somebody by sending some emoticons. We just send the sign of love and we tell people we love you. If you hate somebody, you unfriend them from Facebook. We have actually made our boundaries so small, we have become more and more introverted. And this has actually made an insensitive world. Today’s world has become very insensitive.
When I was growing up, there was no tablet or mobile phone so we had some time together with other children. We played and we had some time outside. Whether it was extremely effective or not effective, there was a public relation, there was an interaction. But today, this is where it is. Our focus is on this phone. And we are happy to fall in love through the phone, divorce through the phone, talk and not talk, convey our anger, hatred, and jealousy, through the phone. Everything is all virtual. In reality, we don’t even look into the eyes of people. We are afraid to look into the eyes of people. We don’t know what we will see and rather not look. Technology is amazing, because of technology we are seeing each other. I’m sure you’re all sitting in various parts of the world. And you are listening to me, we are talking because of technology. So that’s a good side. But then we also have the same technology that has actually controlled us and taken over our lives. We must understand this also.
This is why aligning with oneself is the best you can do in this lifetime. Mind, body, intellect, ego, and spirit together as one unit inside. That means you have become a total unit, you are not in the past or the future, you are right here right now. Then automatically expansion happens, the consciousness expands. The unit spontaneously becomes the universe, that is God-consciousness. Then it actualizes, that’s the state of samadhi we talk about. It transcends the waking state, transcends the dream state, transcends the deep sleep state and it enters into the zone of turiya, the fourth state where you are witnessing all the other three states. Then you transcend further to the turiyatita state, where you’re witnessing even the turiya state.
As per your witness-hood rises, your expansion happens spontaneously. Then you are not expanding the situation, your position, or what you are, it spontaneously grows, it expands. So the point is, if your connection with me is firm, then no question. You’re thinking about me. You’re remembering me, you’re connecting to me. You don’t have to do anything else to connect to me. When you’re plugged into the socket, you will have electricity, like that. You think about me, remember me, you’re connected to me. Activities are all for your sake. No God or Guru says that you should do this or do that. No God is waiting in a temple so that you can come and see him, nor the idol in any place of worship for that matter. No God or Guru is dependent on anybody. When you talk about a Guru, that only means an aligned personality. When you talk about a God-man, he is somebody who has expanded himself and he only sees his reflection in the world. That means he only sees the energetic plane, not the physical plane. When they look at another person, there’s no other person, only their expressions. And they always feel that.
Karl Marx said the same thing, your personality overflows from yourself and merges with the personality of the society, you see your own reflection in everybody’s eyes. It’s the same philosophy, here energetically we are connecting to all the people. We see everybody, as expressions of the same consciousness, we are all one. Then we feel that it’s myself in another body. Each personality has a relevance, a purpose, and also time and duration. Understand that you are expressing the state of God, where God never interferes, just like your soul. The soul is like the petrol in your car. It never cares about the destination, but it aids your journey. If there’s no petrol, you can’t drive a car. If there’s no soul, we call it a dead body. God or the soul has no interest in your life. But it helps your life. Electricity has no interest in your refrigerator or washing machine, but it’s essential to make them perform.
Just like that, when you are always connected to me, and you have always been connected to me over lifetimes, you might be connected to me in the future lives also. I as a person have duration, this body will also die, I may die someday in the future. But that doesn’t stop the story, the story will continue, the energy will continue, the presence will continue. And that’s exactly how it is. How do you make sure the presence will continue? Stop existing for yourself and start existing for the universe, your immortality begins there. The journey or the path of immortality starts there. The less you’re living for yourself, the more you’re living for the world. The more and more you live for the world, you become the world and the world becomes you. Otherwise, it’s a very unit existence, small scale, where you look at a picture and think you know this person, but you have no idea who they are. A picture only tells us about a form. But there is an energy, there is a purpose, there’s a reason, and there’s a duration, we don’t see that.
When you are connecting to somebody, try to connect to the energy of that person and you will see yourself. There’s no difference. Everybody is the same. All the people are the same. Nobody’s higher, nobody’s lower. I am not special. I’m the same as you are. But the thing is that I decided that if I am breathing, my heart is beating, it will be for the world. I do not live for myself. That’s the only decision I’ve taken. I chose not to have material richness only for myself, I decided that I will share my riches so that everybody becomes rich. When you are connected to me, your practices will help you align yourself more. All your practices are for aligning yourself. Be aligned, become a unit and spontaneously you will become the universe, there’s no effort for that. The effort is to bring your scattered mind into you. Bring your mind away from all your anxieties, fears, skills, phobias, all those things and come inside.
But please understand, the compulsive habitual memories, which you have collected over the past will definitely try to drag you outside more and more. When you go to a restaurant, you taste the food, the food is great. The next time we feel again, oh, I would like to go to the restaurant. Because memory compels you for that action. This will be there until and unless after a while you lose interest in all those things. If the food is there, it’s fine, if it’s not there, it’s okay. You are not occupied by a place, a time or a relationship, anything. Everything is fine. But at the same time, you’re always remaining unbound, you’re not bound by anything. At that time, freedom starts.
Freedom happens only when you are unbound. If you can’t detach from anything, all your relationships are real, all your possessions and positions are real, then everything is real. Your connection with all that is real, it has to be. But at a certain point in time, that connection changes, the flavor changes. And you say okay, I’m fine, Fine as myself in this incarnation, and all the external factors are only complementing this existence. That awareness will come, that awareness will grow, and then you realize, I am Mohanji, and Mohanji is not separate from me. When you feel yourself as awareness, you will know that you are connected to me.
When you feel yourself as your mind, you may connect, disconnect, connect and disconnect. When you look at me through your mind you will never understand me. But look at me through your awareness, your own awareness, you will see me there. That’s why I said my place is within you, not outside of you. If you see me outside, you’re not connecting, you’re connecting to a man, a person, a personality and that’s temporary. Because, I may also die someday, sometime soon. So this is not the right connection. The connection is that connection to the consciousness, the energy, where you see me inside you, just like you’re not a picture on your wall. And then what you see inside is the real you. That means I live inside your heart. I stay there. And then you see that there is no Mohanji outside. There is no Mohanji, it’s me, and it’s all us. It’s all one consciousness in many, many bodies. Many dimensions, even a tree, a plant, a bird, an animal, you see your own reflection in everything. So everything is you, that is the truth.
That integrates you. That will make you stable. That will completely stabilize you. Then we have no separation. If you connect with me with your mind, you will compare, you will analyze, you will judge and then you will separate, it’s a matter of time. If you’re connecting to me with your heart, we will have no separation. Those people who love from within, never separate. People who connect with the mind, then it’s an option. If you connect with the mind, mind changes, relationship changes, that is not permanent at all. Connect to me with your heart. And don’t change your mind or let the mind change. Don’t be affected by the mind. Let the mind do whatever it takes. You don’t have to worry about it. But your connection is real, connection with me is real. Whenever you look at me as an option just understand it’s a matter of time before you leave. Because it’s an option.
Also, when you look at me in terms of an expectation – expectation and option are same – if the expectation does not happen, something was not delivered as per your expectation, or the delivery did not happen as per your expectation, understand that delivery always happens as per the eligibility, not as per expectation. And if you think of something, I want this to happen through Mohanji and it didn’t happen, then you will separate. Because expectation came in the way. Expectation leads to disappointment. Disappointment leads to estrangement. Estrangement leads to confusion, confusion leads to a lack of self-esteem. Delusions, anger, hatred, jealousy, and revenge can all happen. We can slip as if going down the slide all the way, to an utter despair situation. Check your expectation, okay, I have surrendered it. That’s what Lord Krishna said. You have the rights of only your action, not on the results of your actions. Because the result is not in your hands, that’s as per your eligibility. Results happen as per your eligibility.
You have control of your actions. Control means you can act or not to act, yes or no. When you act, do your positive action, give your best, and leave the rest, then everything will happen. So, your connection with me if it is from the heart, guaranteed, there’s no separation. We will not separate. Imagine your connection with me is from your mind, then it’s just a matter of time because all the comparisons, expectations, disappointments, anger or hatred, anything can happen. Always understand, when you’re judging somebody you have not connected with that person. This is one benchmark you can look for. Have you judged people, have you criticized people, have you compared people? These are all from the mind, you’re not connected from the heart. If you really connected with somebody from the heart, you will not judge them. You will not criticize them, you will not even think of them as separate, you will accept them. There will be perfect acceptance.
For connection with the heart, the benchmark or the sign of connection is total acceptance. If the connection is from the mind, you will have all these things. Look at which faculty you are operating through. It’s important and interesting to see. You might be thinking, oh, I love this person, I really like him. All those things you will say, but then ask yourself, How am I connecting? If you’re connecting from your mind, understand there will be separation sooner or later. And the mind is never stable. The mind is a monkey mind. It keeps changing. Based on which, your relationships changes, the flavor changes, life changes, opinions, all these things change. Based on this, your relationships also get affected.
Remember this very clearly, if you’re connecting with your heart, it’s total acceptance. When you accept somebody, you must first and foremost accept the weaknesses of the person, not the strengths. We all love to portray our strengths. And also, we all love to accept somebody’s strengths. But it’s the weaknesses that we must accept. Everybody has weaknesses, everybody has strengths, and we are all a mixture. Don’t go for perfection. Perfection is a completely hypothetical thing. It’s individualistic, based on capacity. Everybody may not have the capacity to do everything as per everybody else’s expectation. It is impossible.
Each person delivers into this world as per their own inherent capacity. And that’s the only thing you can deliver, only based on capacity. Imagine I can lift 100 kilos of weight. I tell you please lift 100 kilos and your capacity is 20 kilos. How will you lift 100 kilos? So, based on what you are, your orientation, whatever is your capacity, you’re delivering to this earth, and that should be accepted as it is. Don’t say oh he’s very poor, he can’t lift 100 kilos. That’s our notion, our comparison. That’s totally not the right way to make these connections. If you really like somebody, connect to them from the heart and don’t judge, don’t criticize. Accept them as they are with all the good and the bad. Good, bad, ugly, everything. Let it all be there because that’s a personality, that’s their orientation, The personality of what they are. Take them as they are. Then everything will be stable.
Wish you all a great Guru Poornima. Keep shining bright, the world needs light. Lots of love. Thank you.

Why should an ordinary human being, struggling with mundane life be attracted to “spirituality”? How can it help? To cut through directly, can spirituality make one rich? How? Because only if one has the luxury of material abundance can one look beyond the mundane…
Mohanji: Why should one go to spirituality? The answer is – Because one is not “going” to spirituality. Spirit is part of you. Spirit is running your body, mind, intellect, ego and all the other aspects. So, at a certain point in time you will have to connect to the spirit. Spirit has dimensions- waking state, dream state, deep sleep state- whatever you see outside is not yours. You can talk about any material, any person, any position, you can talk about anything in the outside world- it is not yours, and it’s only temporary. You are custodian of that for some time, after that it goes away. What is inside, permanently, continuously, guiding and delivering experiences which is part of life-that is spirit. You will get to know that at some point of time in life. It’s not that we choose – “Ok now we have had enough of the external world, we go inside”. It is not like that. It is something which is already sitting in you and you are reminded about it. You become reminded of the real factor, the real aspect of you. You understand that all these illusions apart, I am a real being, I am the Spirit inside that has activated the mind, body, intellect and ego- that is exactly what I am and that connection, the deepening of that connection is the deepening of spirituality. This is what Spirituality is.
It is not what you think is an activity. You can use any activity to reach that experience of Spirit. You can use kriyas, you can use yoga asanas, you can use meditations, contemplations. You can take any path, any deity, any worship, hatha yoga, dhyana yoga, karma yoga– but at the end of the day you are only using them as vehicles to reach a state where you are one with the spirit. So, Spirituality is You. Everybody is equal here- nobody has higher spirituality or lower spirituality- there is higher connectivity and lower connectivity. When I say higher connectivity, that means more connectivity with Spirit, lower connectivity means more with the external world. Apart from that, there is no one higher or no one lower. Some people who are fully connected to the Spirit- we call them MASTERS.
We get attracted to them because they don’t need anything from the external world, they are fully connected to their inside world and they are very happy and contented, because inside world is permanent, outside world is not permanent. People are generally emotional, in the emotional state, in the thought state- ideas change, ideals change, materials outside change- everything changes, so we are fed up of these changes after a while. None of these things are permanent, not even this body- it is not permanent.
While you are existing, while you have this incarnation, use this incarnation to connect to yourself- and reach the highest state you can as an individual and that is obviously the spirit state. You establish in the Spirit state- that is the Shakti-state also, self-realisation state and also that is a permanent state. It has its own permanence and then you reach the state of soul- the Shiva-state- where everything becomes you. You have nothing else to look at. What you look outside is you, all the emotions outside is you, all the people outside are you, everything is you. So, that state, it is a natural progression for every individual, it is not like at one point you stop the other and choose this, it doesn’t work that way. You are always flowing, reaching a state where nothing else matters- only the Spirit matters. This is how it happens.
How can people get unstuck in life? There are karmic patterns that keep repeating cyclically in many cases, and people are so stuck that even though they want to, they can’t get out of their situations and just can’t seem to move on, even though they have the awareness to see that it is a repetitive pattern: be it financially, maritally, socially, health wise…etc. Is there a mantra to get unstuck and move on in life? I don’t mean it in the context of escapism, but in being aware that it is some sort of karma- but you still want to move out of it, without playing the blame game.
Mohanji: Whenever we are stuck with something, it means that we are succumbing to our dependencies and expectations. Expectations and tendencies are the cause for getting stuck at every level. Mostly expectations are controlled by certain desires and wrong understandings as well. So, if it is a situation or a person or a place or anything of this aspect including things like marriage, a particular position in the society, wealth, assets- all those things, they are all connected to certain concepts which we are digesting or we have acquired. It is not yours, you have collected it from the society and society tells that you should get married, society tells you should have children, society demands quite a lot of things- because society cannot see the Karma, society is two dimensional. Society does not understand Karma at all. Why a certain person behaves in a certain way- the society cannot understand. We acquire it and try to practise it. So, every dependency causes pain.
Whenever you are dependent on something external, that causes pain. You are free by birth. Freedom is your birth right and freedom is your nature. So, any binding, even if it is small or big- it leaves pain, it gives pain. This is one aspect. And expectations about individual relationships- that causes pain. These are the two things that we say we are stuck in existence. The remedy, the way to get out is – perfect awareness.
First and foremost, understand that you are a Karmic-being. In that situation, because your Karmic structure chose that, your Karmic configuration created that situation for you. You may like it or you may not like it, that’s different- it depends on this life and this existence. Now you have a choice – that you become aware and you accept, you allow it to happen. Then you choose no suffering. This whole situation will dilute. The mantra to get unstuck is awareness. Practise awareness. Practising awareness means that you are aware that you are existing, that you are going through a situation and this awareness should be combined with non-resistance. No resistance at all. Total acceptance- ok, this is my situation, I accept it, be very cool about it and you handle it. Only when you resist it becomes painful. Whenever you resist any situation it becomes painful and that memory goes deeper. So, before something becomes a pattern- there is a deep memory connected to it. A memory which is very deep becomes a pattern.
A memory which is very deep always reminds you that it exists- just like a big tree is more visible than the small bushes or shrubs or grass- like that you need to understand that everything is created by you in this way. May be it was a small incident that left a memory, then similar incidents add up to that memory, this memory becomes much deeper and more solid, and after a while it becomes a pattern. This memory creates its’ own existence. Something which is already in the ground – it grows and it creates a pattern and life becomes repetitive. Something you think you are stuck with- there is always a deeper impression which is keeping you there. So it is important that you need to dilute this impression.
Now going to the system, how it operates- the impressions that you are sending out of residual memory- stays waiting for the right position and right time to materialize into a form, into an activity, an experience- so when it really matures, when the environment is right for it to express itself, that’s the time when you are resisting again. When you are resisting, it is not going away, it’s staying back. Each time you resist any situation, that goes back into the mind and again it comes out, so that eventually becomes a pattern. Each time you put anything back into the line again, it goes and comes back again. So every situation you push away becomes your reality sooner or later on a much more permanent level- that’s what you call the successes and failures of life, but if you accept every situation: alright, this is happening, I have to handle it- and you are not even actually handling it! Like Bhagawan Krishna says- Surrender all your activities and the results of it to me and I will release you from it. When you are surrendering all your activities and all results- and you are just existing as a person completely occupied in Self, then all these things will diminish after a while because once they can’t manifest in you with full intensity, then they lose importance.
Whatever loses importance in life drops off and whatever drops off is gone forever. Then you do not even have a memory. You may have a faint memory that something like that may have happened in past lives. It drops off and finally you become empty- when you become empty, you become complete by the divine spirit. So you can definitely get out of this experience with one mantra- PERFECT AWARENESS- that you exist and only you exist. Everything you are experiencing – you have collected at some point in time. Whatever is outside of you are only triggers of what lies inside you. Everything outside remains outside as long as you don’t take it inside- that’s not yours and you are completely free from it. If you have clear awareness that you are a complete being experiencing something called life with this incarnation, then you will be free from it easily. It is an attitudinal thing.
If you are suffering, resisting or complaining, you are actually reinforcing. Likewise if you are criticizing, judging, scandalizing, taking revenge etc- the poison sits in you more than in other people. So when you mislead somebody, or when you criticize somebody, you are actually criticizing yourself, because you are creating all those energies inside and it flows out. Then what happens is that you as a source get more contaminated than the world outside. So it is always the case that where ever there is suffering, where ever there is a situation of pain- look at the source- where is it coming from? You will see a memory which you have stored, which is a part of your pending disorder pattern; if order is happiness then disorder is sadness. So this disorder pattern is created. In the absolute sense there is no disorder, it’s all experience and you are aware that this is all just experience and you have nothing to do with it, it is just happening through you- then you will survive- you will be free from it eventually.
When people pray to energies in a temple or a church or a mosque…, is Anyone actually listening? If no, why did prayer develop, because it seems to have been embedded in civilization since the beginning of it? If yes, how do we pray, especially if you need help? What is the most efficient way to pray so that Someone answers? Or do we not pray at all?
Mohanji: Human beings understood that there are higher powers than themselves, so they created systems over a period of time that they could ask somebody to help them. There are numerous beings that are very benevolent in the created universe. There is a created universe and there is an uncreated universe; the uncreated universe is much more than the created universe. So if you feel and you understand that the uncreated universe created the created universe which is part of our existence as well as yourself and the universe which is tangible, then there is a creator who is the unmanifested and uncreated. Thus people tend to connect to the unmanifested as the source and that is where the prayers developed from.
Eventually the saints and the seers understood that to reach the uncreated universe you can’t go outside to reach – you have to go inside and reach. So they developed systems where they withdrew themselves from the senses, they withdrew the mind into themselves, then they stabilised the mind into the soul- which is the spirit- and they stabilised the intellect into the spirit, ego into the spirit- and they completely withdrew themselves into silence and connected to the source which is the actual source particle within them- which we call soul; then the whole connection started with the outside universe, because when you connect to the source inside- you connect to the actual source outside. Then they realised that there is no inside or outside because this whole thing that we consider as incarnation is just an illusion, meaning it’s just temporary. Nothing tangible is an illusion- it is a temporary thing. When they realised this connection to the inside, they became self-conscious or they became aware of the Self, then they became aware of the cosmic self. So this is the way.
In our case when the mind is praying to something outside that is mostly connected to insecurity or connected to some needs- that’s a very fragile way of praying and that is rooted in
non-understanding. There is no master or teacher sitting in the outside world, as a being who is granting wishes and boons like that. In the structure of Sanatana Dharma, we have deities- deities are all connected to ideas. We have various types of deities- 33 crore deities- meaning that there are 330 million dimensions of the Supreme Consciousness, which is pure energy. The great Masters codified or gave a structure to the 330 million dimensions possible of the Supreme Consciousness and they have given it a name and a form corresponding to their ideal or what they are representing. They created yantras or sacred geometry structures. They created mantras to activate or maintain them. These great Masters understood them and made them tangible for the people to worship. When you worship them you actually worship that aspect within you.
As I said in the beginning, the people who recognized that the whole creation and the creator sits inside them- they started connecting within, withdrawing the senses, withdrawing the mind from the senses and the intellect and Ego from the outside world and bringing it inside and then they started actualizing it. They realized that there are numerous dimensions of the creator, and each creator will create a different creation based on its dimension. So you are also one force- you created yourself and you have power to create new existence, so you are Shakti. In the same way, every being is shakti, every being is a creator and the creator has big force. That possibility is segregated and classified in 330 million forms by great Masters and they said, “Look here, all these dimensions are real to you and are inside you. But you connect to what suits you because you will naturally connect to something which connects you to the state that is close to your state”. What suits you is what you can digest and like a food you consume. So you will connect to a God or a Deity that’s natural to you, that is why in the Sanatan Dharma tradition, everything is a deity – a tree is a deity, a plant is a deity, because every being which has the power to create his own clan or a class or his own is a deity, because he is a creator. So, a human being is also a creator.
The soul-aspect has the power to create more bodies, so naturally we have the power and the presence and the dimension of the creator. Hence, we respect everybody as ourselves, as a potential creator. That is why we do Namaste- that is, we respect the creatorship in you and I respect you as a creator. So when you pray to something outside, what you pray to and which level you pray to – this is very important to understand. The highest and the best prayer is the prayer of Gratitude. First of all, you should be accepting of whatsoever is happening in you, your body, your mind, your intellect, your ego, your positioning, your possessions, your upbringing, your lineage, your family, your parents- then there is a larger flow of life that made this possible. There is a larger pattern, there is a larger configuration, so first you respect that and it will lead you to contentment: “I am happy with what I am, I am happy with this situation, I am happy with this incarnation.” At that level, the only prayer that is possible is gratitude- I am grateful, for all the pain and the pleasures of life are a part of it.
There is nothing good or nothing bad in life. We say something is very bad only because you did not accept it as that thing- that’s all. You cannot talk about any aspect of existence as good or bad, you can’t blame somebody, because everybody exists in their own karma. They are all travelling in their path, and what can you call as right or wrong, it is very difficult to say. I always say that violence is wrong- violence is bad because it breeds more violence. So when more violence happens, then emotions are running and you are connecting to it and your affinity with yourself reduces, that is why I say violence is not good. If you get love, you can accept, you can literally embrace it as it comes, then your connectivity inside is stable. That is more relevant and effective to connect to the larger aspect of existence. That is why I always say connect to yourself and do not be violent in thought, word and action. Accept and move forward. I am not saying be a doormat and suffer, what I am saying is accept everything with awareness and know that- this has come to me, there is a reason for this happening to me; these people have come to me, they are sent- otherwise they wouldn’t have reached me. There is a larger configuration, there is a larger perspective- everything that has happened in your life has a purpose, you just accept the purpose. Some of them are painful, some of them are pleasant –“Oh I didn’t expect this person to behave like this!”, or, “Oh I expected this person to behave like this!” – all these things are in the mind. So you take your mind off and give an expression of gratitude and life will clear up spontaneously.
People think that there is some God or someone outside listening to your prayers. When you go and see a deity, that deity belongs to you- he is a part of you- you are actually accepting that aspect of you and then you are praying to that aspect of you within you. That is why we close our eyes and pray, we don’t open our eyes and pray. Why? Because spontaneously we know that when we are praying, we are praying inside and not outside. When you open your eyes you are looking outside. When you look outside- what you see are images, forms, and you get diluted – that that is what is going to grant you your wishes- it is not so.You are actually unlocking yourself to receive it,that is when you are actually getting the results. So when you pray to something outside and you close your eyes and say- God please do this for me, or, Please help me, so inside you are asking for the blockage to be removed. And who is removing it? You are actually allowing it to be removed, so it is getting removed. Not that God is sitting outside and says- Ok now I remove this thing from you!
It is not so. It is actually internally that you are doing it. Everything is inside- understand- the world outside has no existence apart from you. When you look at the world outside, the world exists, when you don’t look at the world outside it doesn’t exist. So everything is inside, all the creations are inside, that’s why great Masters created 330 million dimensions of the Supreme Consciousness and said now you connect to anything you like. But they are not insisting that you connect to anything, that freedom is there. If you are only looking at one dimension, then you do not even understand Creation. Look at an average human existence – you are a father, you are a son, you are a spouse, you are an employee, employer, a pedestrian, you are a consumer- you have numerous roles in everyday life. So its not one dimension that you live all the time. Just like that, deities and gods have numerous dimensions- that you understand and connect to, and then you can be in tune with creation.
So prayers are good, but prayers with the awareness that- they are to ourselves, it is all inside; and deities outside are our own representations. There are deities who are angry deities, there are deities who are loving deities, there are deities who will give you wealth-(if you pray to them you will become rich- they are to provide wealth), there are deities to provide success, there are deities to remove blockages. All these deities are dimensions of you and when you pray to them you are actually giving commands, intrusion into yourself, or your affirmations to yourself that- let the blockage towards this be cleared and let me be successful– this is how it works.
Then how do gurus work differently? Gurus are people who have actualized themselves. When you connect to the energy of the Master, then like a mirror it reflects into them and comes out. They are very similar to deities but Gurus work differently. Gurus with their accumulated grace factor are able to change things in their outside world.
That is because they have collected something. Like, see you have earned a million dollars, so you can spend a million dollars. If you have not earned a million dollars then you cannot spend it. So through good work, activities, prayers and meditations, chanting and so many different things that gave them strength and power, they have collected them over life times and that bank balance is what they are using for your benefit. So that is the way that Guru sometimes changes your destiny- because they have already earned that bank balance and using that bank balance they can help you.
They will help you provided you deserve the help. It’s not like they like you, they look at your face and they like you and they help you. It does not happen like that, eligibility is a very important thing- eligibility means purity of thought, purity of word, purity of action- that’s the main thing, the purpose should be pure. If the purpose is to harm somebody or hurt somebody or possess somebody or control somebody- Gurus may not be interested to help you, because that may not be the cause that they stand for. Sanatan Dharma does not support wrong action- which means actions that control people, manipulate people, or any of those actions that are not good for society. Sanatan Dharma stays with the dharmic people- dharmic people are enforced by Sanatan Dharma; and the Masters that enforce the Sanatan Dharma will only help those people who are actually doing something for the world.
You cannot even imagine the quantum of that help – it ‘ll be like a huge force of a million horsepower or a billion horse power or something like that, provided that you are doing it for the sake of the larger good of the world. So this is also one suggestion that if you want to get out of your small states of fears and phobias and binding- you have to get into the larger worldview and get into larger action, so that spontaneously larger forces come through you and work through you and that automatically dilutes and dissolves these smaller aspects of fears, phobias and bindings.
