Faith in your inner Guru – on healing the Earth

mohanji2

Questioner: Who is a Guru? I’ve heard a guru is like a GPS. Can we progress without a Guru?

Mohanji: Thank you very much for inviting me and thank you very much for this opportunity. My gratitude to the Healing Our Earth team and all of you.

About the question about guru – I follow the tradition of Lord Dattatreya who had 24 gurus. When somebody asked Dattatreya, “Who are you?”, he said, “I am just a worshipper of nature”. So, the fundamental is that anything and everything around us is teaching us something. And the greatest and the highest Guru is life itself – life gives you lessons.

mohanji-and-lord-dattatreya1

And if you consider 24 hours, we have three distinct dimensions that we go through without any choice:

1) One is the waking state where we interact with the world outside. We gather experiences and we project ourselves into the world (and as per our projection we get experiences).

2) Then we enter into a state of the dreams, the dream state where we completely shut off the world outside, close the eyes and then go within the world inside. Then what we process here is from what we have collected and stored.

3) Then that is also shut down when we enter into a deep sleep state where we completely nullify all the experiences.

3 states

So when awareness is connected to the physical level, we have the waking state.

When awareness is connected to mind-matter (which is mind, intellect, and ego where mind processes emotions, intellect processes information and ego processes things connected to ownership), when we connect to that mind-matter and become fully immersed in that, then what comes alive is what is stored by these faculties inside.

And then we connect to the consciousness aspect when we have deep sleep, and we don’t know whether we are a man or a woman. We don’t know the time or space, we are completely not accessible to this world, and we don’t have the world to access.

We take a rebirth again every morning – we come back. So we go through this process, almost like a pattern. And then we decide that we are this personality that we have projected in the world.  We are also trying to figure out what we are in this world, based on our positions and possessions.

So at some point in time, we realize that this is not really giving us the whole satisfaction – we are actually roaming around for pleasures.

At some point in time we realize there is something permanent and perpetual. That’s a time when we start associating – that the first level of physical, second level of mind-matter and then the third level of consciousness : that it has got these three states, we start thinking about it. It is called manana, not dhyana (meditation), it’s contemplation. That is why various masters have time and again repeated that it is important to contemplate, not meditate. Meditation will happen spontaneously but contemplation is very, very important. The more you contemplate, the more you realize that there is somebody witnessing the whole show. And then it is a quest for knowing who is the permanent, unshakable witnessing this whole show and is always unattached. So this question happens inside. And then we start going within. And it’s an inner journey, it’s definitely not an outside journey.

contemplate

So as far as the tradition that I follow is concerned, you’ve got to find yourself, and that’s the whole thing. When the student asked the teacher, “I can’t really understand all these scriptures – Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Shrutis, Smritis, and 33 crore Gods! I can’t really go through all this. I can’t understand. Tell me in one word what this whole story is”.

The teacher said,  “YOU! You are the whole story. Tat Tvam Asi”. (You are that)

Then the quest is to find this You, who is actually making all this experience possible.  That’s the way the connection happens.

So the Dattatreya tradition has great masters like Sai Baba who everybody knows.  He lived as a fakir and a Sufi saint. And though he was living in one place, his energy and power radiated in several places. As a perfect avadhoota, he had fully turned inward the faculties like mind, intellect and ego, and started  finding himself. And then he finally found the soul aspect, the atma tattva, stabilized there and settled down. Then what you see outside is your own reflection everywhere. So all the leaves, plants, trees, people, animals, birds, everything gives you a lesson. Because you see yourself in everything. And then you become one with the whole universe. So this is the guru principle that we are talking about.

Guru is definitely not just a human being. Of course we talk about Lord Krishna, as jagath (world) guru. Definitely because he lived the detachment. What he lived for is valid even now, because he was in everything and he was in nothing. Perfect detachment. So like that, there have been masters who time and again came and displayed the possibility of existing without boundaries and full freedom.

Freedom means freedom from the senses and mind, not freedom of the senses. We have misunderstood this concept too much. When we talk about freedom, we talk about freedom to do anything we like to do or to say whatever we like, that in society we can be ourselves as we are. That is not freedom. That is just an expression of patterns. What freedom is, is the freedom from senses and mind where we do not have any kind of binding to anything around. So this is exactly the freedom which the masters have lived, and expressed.

freedom-from-mind

Now when you talk about guru principle, the job of the guru was to live it and the job of the disciple was to connect to that principle of freedom and walk towards it, inside. Go within and find yourself. So this takes time. In my earlier days, I used to go to the Himalayas quite often when I was working in a company as well. And I was trying to find out this me and it took a long time. I did not have a personal guru at that time, but I connected to my spine – being aware of the spine when I’m walking, when I’m doing things, I’m still aware of the spine. And then automatically things started shifting, awareness started shifting, it took me many years. But the point I’m trying to tell is that if you really want to find your guru, you have to find yourself. If you have found yourself, you found the guru. Then everything around is your guru.  All the gurus brighten up when you brighten up. So this is already sitting inside. So that is why Tat Tvam Asi has a lot of value. That means, this is the fundamental principle of all the scriptures. If everything were put together and crushed and a juice made out of it all, you get one thing called You. That is the final thing you can get.

When we walk this path, don’t think it will be easy – because our patterns have become too strong. We have been used to so many things, we have been literally entertaining ourselves and our patterns for a long period of time. And we have forgotten that we are bound by patterns, bound by concepts, bound by prejudices. When we look at a person we decide that we don’t like him, or we like him. This is all connected to how we see the world. Basically, there are no enemies, there are no friends, it’s just as it is, and the world is as it is. We all have our space, we all have our relevance, our activity, we have to do something here and all that we are doing is projecting ourselves to the world and getting it back. That is what we are doing. But once you start assimilating yourself, once you find yourself, then you stop projecting, as there’s nothing to project. Instead you start reflecting like a mirror, you will be like a mirror. When somebody comes in front, you reflect that without prejudices, without expectations, without any kind of flavors – as it is. So that makes you a perfect master, total reflection. That is why great masters like Haidakhan Baba said, “When you come to me with anger, I become anger. When you come to me with love, I become love”. That means that you do not have flavors to project, instead you are being a reflection of the whole world, and that is a very sincere reflection, there’s no flavor. And that is consistent, no change. So when you become like that, you become like a huge magnet because you have no flavors. You become every flavor, you are everybody, you’re everything! There is no discrimination, you see the atma tattva in everything, the soul particle, the soul aspect factor which is in all things, and you connect to that – no barrier. So this is exactly what the soul principle is. And that is exactly what the guru principle is.

mohanjis-guru-principle

On Guru Purnima day, all I would like to tell you that whatever you are searching for is already within. And when you realize that, it is called self-realization. The realization is only of what you already have and what you realize at some point in time is that you have it. So that’s very simple, and all you need to do to achieve that is to spend time with yourself, not in books, not in rituals, not in activities, not with people. You’ve got to find time for yourself, assimilate yourself. For all that you need to accept yourself. Most of us have a big problem accepting ourselves. We judge ourselves, criticize ourselves, we doubt ourselves. And that creates the distance between ourselves and us. We find it difficult to come within because our acceptance is conditional for ourselves. And then the same thing gets reflected in society – you don’t accept everybody, then we don’t accept situations either. And then we sometimes have a lot of opinions. The world is full of opinions, but we have to go beyond opinions and realize the truth. Opinions are flavored because they are situational, and they are a play of duality. But reality is totally detached from opinions. So we got to really cut out all this, these kind of fringes. And then you come inside. And then you feel okay : ‘I’m complete as it is, I’m unique. I’m neither higher, nor lower or equal to anybody. I’m unique, and this is exactly what I’m supposed to express in this world, nothing more’. And then you start connecting to yourself.

So total acceptance is the first step, and complete liberation is the result. Thank you very much.

Questioner: My god, that was so enlightening. My eyes were glued on your eyes, trying to focus on this message.  My question for others. Freedom from senses and mind is one of the most difficult things to go through. How would you recommend this for individuals to go through?

Mohanji: Thanks very much. The first step is always acceptance, self-acceptance, self-respect, self-love. See, the most criticized person in our life is ourselves by ourselves! We judge ourselves, we compare ourselves, and we criticize ourselves when we try to compete with other people, and then we dilute our uniqueness in that way, and that’s the detrimental factor. We say – I am not good enough because of X number of reasons – this is not true.

mohanji-quote-being-oneself

We are good enough, we are unique. Nobody is like us. Our thumb impression is unique to ourselves and our retina is unique to ourselves, and we are unique creations. This has to be accepted, the first and primary step. And that is the moment we start accepting ourselves, we stop competing and stop comparing. Then we start connecting with ourselves with wonder, like a child. Like you know, when a small child is given a toy. The child will be playing, touching the toy and feeling the toy and literally  enjoying the toy for a long time. And then it really is fully occupied, full concentration Like that, we have to accept ourselves as a unique creation and start experiencing ourselves with wonder, not as somebody in the society (that is only when we are awake).

There are two things to understand: one is pratheethi and the other is anubhoothi.

Pratheethi means we open our eyes and we see things outside and we connect to those things, and we have an experience.

Anubhoothi means even if you close your eyes, you have that experience inside, you don’t need an object. For example, when you wake up in the morning and you say, ‘Oh, I’m happy, I slept well’, there was no material, there was no person, there was no interaction, but still you’re happy. So we realize that for happiness, you don’t really have to interact with the world. So that kind of awareness takes you to yourself and you start exploring that aspect of yourself. This is all simple awareness that we should have. AwarenessBodh!

Awareness is the key, when you are aware of yourself and you accept : the 2 A’s (acceptance, awareness.) You do that all the time – when you’re working, when you’re traveling, when you’re sitting in one place, when you’re interacting, just be aware of how you are, what you are, and be fascinated by yourself. So then after a while, you will be fully connected to yourself, and you will be very much linked and happy with yourself. See, all our frustrations, anxieties, insecurities everything is connected to the world outside – all of them will have no value anymore, because we have a lot to see and a lot to feel inside.

awareness

And that’s the way we come inside. There are techniques defined by various traditions such as concentrating on the heartbeat, concentrating on the breath, and also assimilating, you are controlling, the pranayama kind of stuff. All those things are there. Anything which is suitable for you is good for you. That’s no problem. But fundamentally, everything should start with acceptance. And there you go, and then be aware. When you’re angry, be aware of the anger, when you’re jealous, be aware of the jealousy. Always be aware but do nothing about it. When you’re constantly being aware, already your witness. You’re taking a step backwards and seeing it. When you are seeing it, that thing loses its intensity. When you are experiencing anger and you’re witnessing the anger, the anger will happen, but you are not angry. This is the difference. So when you take one step backwards and start looking at it, you know that you are actually powerful, you’re not a victim of all these emotions. Instead, you are experiencing all these emotions and you’re still the same, you are completely a witness. This is possible. It takes time, but the first foremost step is acceptance. That is why I keep insisting on acceptance because if we don’t accept yourself; society will not accept us. So this is as simple as that. When you look at the whole society, so many people love you so many people hate you – so you have an element of non-acceptance, which is getting reflected. Whatever you get from society is your own projections. And when that projection ends, then you become a reflection, then the society loves you because they only see themselves in you, they don’t see you. So, there you become lovable. You’re one with the world. You’re part of the world, part of the universe in fact. Everybody enjoys your presence because you are Brightness. You’re like a mirror!!

Questioner: That was a very strong answer! Something I picked up from there was self-recognition, self-appreciation, self-approval. It is so vital to do that, to actually recognize yourself that you are the person you are. That’s awesome. Now it’s interesting, this philosophy, this concept is amazing. I will read the message. I will take home this message. However, to live this message on a day-to-day basis : how strongly do you feel the power of association is? Because if you engage with like-minded people who think this philosophy, live this philosophy, breathe this philosophy, it’s that much easier to be with them in order to think that. Now, can you reflect your message on a day-to-day basis?  What to do, how can we make this a part of our life, our breath?

Mohanji: There are two parts to this question; one I feel that we should not detach from anything that comes our way, we must accept. Because when we detach, there are two things happening: one is suppression, other is escapism, and these two are equal to postponement. We should not postpone – we are postponing to some other time. When fears happen, we look into the eyes of fears. When situations happen, accept them. Some situations may not be very easy to accept. If you don’t accept, they hang on, they stay, they persist. So whatever we resist, persists. So I always recommend acceptance in everything: ‘Come, come, we look into the eyes. Bring it on.’ And that makes you free, liberated, because you’re not hiding from anything. You’re not avoiding things, you’re not escaping nor are you trying to manipulate things. It is as it is. We are taking it, as it is.

resistance

And secondly, often we can’t avoid many situations in life. For example, workplace situations – one can’t change them. So, being yourself there is the right answer. And always one thing in every situation, we do not have to respond. There are two ways you can interact with a situation. One is to react emotionally, which we usually do – egotistically, emotionally. And the result is usually regret or guilt. Or the other way is to respond using the intellect and just take it easy, take a foot back and look at it and then respond with awareness, and with intellect so that it will not create emotions. These are the two major ways we can interact with society. I always recommend responding, not reacting. Reacting always leaves some bad residue, which is not good. So if you constantly respond, and you have your time, your space and you respond, then you are always light and free. And then you do not have to handle so much of the hangover of regrets or guilt. So that itself saves a lot of time, because we have to handle a lot of all these kinds of things.

soul

So in this society, whatever happens, let it happen. We are not trying to change it. We can’t change it. So we interact in our social life, in our family life, in business life – it’s all one life, but in all the situations we are playing different roles. And in those roles, just be ourselves, keep responding. And our equilibrium, our inner stability, our peace quotient is very vital for us. The peace quotient, and that’s inside us, we already have it. Peace is a state of the soul. Soul is always peaceful whatever emotions we go through. In turbulences, and similar situations, the soul is not affected. So we are coming in contact with our inner core all the time. Or just be reminded that there is a situation inside, which is completely unaffected and try to imitate it. And then we respond and not react. And this is also connected to ownership a lot. Means we own our actions that” I do this , I do this” , this I factor is sometimes very painful. So instead, like what Krishna said, in the Gita,

Yadaa yadaa hi dharmasya
glaanir bhavati bhaarata
abhyutthaanam adharmasya
tadatmaanam srjaamyaham

That is what He said: “I happen”.  He did not say, “I take birth”. “I happen”, He says.

Life is about happening. Happening means you are actually happening, or life is as it takes place; not that we have created it. There is of course a history for everything, something has produced a situation and something will happen to the situation; there will be a result, but at the same time everything is sprouting. So we understand that. And we assimilate that, and we accept that. We are not the owner of the action. Ownership of action creates pain, disappointments and also karma. If there’s no ownership, the karmic structure is different. When you do not own it and you are surrendered, (like kaayena vaaccha manasendriyairvaa). And there you are detached from your action, and you’re flowing through.  When you are flowing through, you are always free.

And that is what Vyasa said when he ate all the sweets, which the Brajvaasis (residents of Braja) had brought. The Yamuna River was overflowing and Krishna was on the other side. The Brajvaasis said, “We want to cross to the other side but can’t go as no boatman will take us, because the river is overflowing”. Vyasa asked, “What did you bring for Krishna?” They showed him all the sweets and he started eating them. They were embarrassed to tell him not to eat because he was Vyasa. And then Vyasa said, ”Come with me”, and when they reached the shore, he said, “If I have not eaten anything, let the river part”. And the river parted. The Brajwasis went to the other side but were surprised as they knew Vyasa had eaten all the sweets in front of them. Finally they found Krishna sleeping on a bench in the garden, and they waited. And Krishna got up and asked them, “What did you bring?” So they said all these things. Krishna said, “Sorry I can’t eat them because my stomach is full after eating the same things a little while ago”. That means when Vyasa was consuming it, he was offering it to Krishna,   and though it was going into the mouth of Vyasa, it was going into the stomach of Krishna. So this is exactly the point.

The point is that if you are absolutely, completely surrendered to existence, then karma cannot take place. The other side I’m saying is that, when we know that everything is happening in life, and you are completely floating through it, like you’re cruising, there will be turbulences, but it doesn’t matter – the ownership and the pain connected will not be present.

Q&A Unconditional Love Part 1

Mohanji red

Mohanji: Welcome to Mohanji Speaks. These are answers to questions from listeners. Thank you for sending them, keep sending them. I will try to answer them as best as I can.

Speaker: Mohanji. This is about love. So, it’s asking the question Q: When is true unconditional love possible?

part 1

Mohanji: Unconditional Love is the only possibility. All the other things are relative love, which is loving for a particular reason. For a cause, means loving with expectation. They are all unnatural. They’re all mind oriented. Unconditional Love is the substratum. That means it is permanent, it’s permanent always. Means something which is permanent is unconditional love. And why we do not experience it? Because we are connecting love with something external an external object or an external being, and we decide that we have a choice to love or not to love. But if you remove all these choices you have a state where you are sleeping, you have a state where you awaken and you’re a state where you’re dreaming. All of these states are real. And that which transcends all these states is unconditional love. But how do you know about this? That means, how do you know that there is a state where you need nothing, but you still love?

You have to connect to yourself. You have to look at yourself.

Look at the harmony, which is called you. All the organs of the body, which are different functions are working in perfect synchronicity in harmony. And you understand there is a deep love or deep connection. The connection between all these activities which are happening, which makes you stay alive. That cementing material, or that which unites everything is deep love.

love

If you really connect yourself, you will be overwhelmed with love. It’ll be like a treasury, treasure house of love within. You do not see that outside. When you’re interacting with the outside world, you’re looking at people, you’re looking at differences, you’re looking at materials. You have expectations, you have desires inclinations tendencies. When all these things are happening It’s not easy to feel love, because we are occupied with all these things. In that mode, very, very difficult to find unconditional love. But if you take a close watch at nature, you’ll see a tree gives fruits with zero expectation. It’s only desire, by giving forth the fruit is that its seeds get distributed and new trees will come. But it produces much more fruits than it actually needs to have another tree. Why so? So, it’s doing its Dharma, its duty to serve the world unconditionally. It gives shade. even to a woodcutter somebody who’s come with an axe to cut its branches. It gives shade. It gives shade to birds, shelter to birds. And it gives nourishment to the beings, without any expectation. You can see this harmony this truth everywhere. This is unconditional love.
Love without conditions. And you are able to observe yourself the true yourself. There’s a physical aspect of the gross aspect. We a subtle aspect, the experience, aspect, which consists of the intellect ego-mind, all these things. Then we have further a causal aspect which causes everything to function within us. Look at all these aspects. On the gross aspect, you have an identity, you have a personality. You have a certain existence, and you are identified as a certain person all these things. Then the second level, subtle level, where you are nurturing and maintaining these things. In both these places sometimes, sometimes you can’t find unconditional love, because desires surpass our feeling of unity. Desires overwhelm. Sometimes we don’t even see the possibility of unconditional love. But when you go still further deep within, causal layer, it has no interest in any of the activities. It has no interest in any experiences. It is completely neutral, but it is love, its expression is love. It continuously assists all the other faculties to experience life, with totally free and unconditional existence. So, inside us, we have deep unconditionality. But why do we not experience it? Why are we not experiencing it is because we have so many emotions, connected to expectations connected to our existence when all these emotions are happening one by one like waves on the ocean. We fail to see what’s behind all this. When all these emotions are gone, you never see a calm sea always, calm in the sense, waveless sea. There are waves all the time. Such emotions keep on happening, we fail to see there is a sea underneath. So, you got to take some time, connect deep within. Go within. I say contemplate, contemplate, contemplate.

Contemplate going within. Deep analysis about what you are not. Anger comes – I’m not anger. Hatred comes – Why should I be hatred. Hatred kills me. It disturbs me. I’m not hatred. Jealousy comes -Why should I be jealous about somebody, I’m unique internal focusing on my uniqueness why should I look at somebody else? Like that with the contemplation, you can remove the intensity of each emotion. Then what remains is unconditional love. One by one layer by layer, you remove the grip of emotions. Then emotions don’t grip you anymore. When you’re fully yourself when your inner journey is strong, you’re more inclined to go inside than outside emotions can’t catch you. Emotions exist with outside objects outside entities, beings, people, places, all these things. But when you go within there’s nothing to hold on, except some memories, something which is stored, such as fears memories inclinations, likes and dislikes tendencies experiences impressions. Apart from that, there’s nothing inside. You are constantly seeing the existence of these materials inside. You start feeding, ‘That’s not me at all fleeting things, something which comes and goes. So, I’m not all this! Then what am I? That’s when you really start connecting to the deeper core, where there is somebody something in you, which needs nothing. Totally free. Unattached with all your activities, all your likes and dislikes, all your emotions, all your desires, everything, and still happy.

So that’s when you realize, oh, there is something much deeper, much happier than this fleeting happiness or pleasures of life. And that gives you that awareness. There is something very deep and unconditional within. You got to find it. It’s like finding a treasure, you’ll dig and dig and dig and beneath all the mud and rubbles there is a treasure box within us. When you find that you’ve found everything. There’s nothing more to find. Meanwhile, we are deceived trying to find something outside of us like a relationship, some possessions, some positions. We are on a mad rush all the time. But are we happy? We are not happy. We need more. We need different things, we need variety, plus we engage in emotions such as criticism judgment comparison and that hooks you to the outside world. If you just leave it. Don’t judge anybody. Don’t criticize anybody. Don’t compare with anybody, you are unique.

choose love

If you’re less hooked to the world outside your inner journey becomes easier. If you are more hooked to the world outside first of all you have to unhook; that’s why we have The Power of Purity meditation, unhooking. Unhook yourself from the world outside. And then come inside slowly, slowly. Take one step at a time. It may take time; I don’t even know how much time it depends on individuals. How deep you’re connected to the world outside. If you’re lesser connected to the world outside easier to come inside. So, this is approximate, I mean I’m just giving you a broad picture because unconditional love is something which you got to feel where you are able to love everybody, everything like a mother to the child, mother of any species to its children. How deep is the bonding, how much love? With no expectations. And if you look at the animal kingdom, their love is far more unconditional than the human kingdom.

Speaker: This is the first podcast of three on the topic of unconditional love. It was quite extensively covered by Mohanji. So, there’ll be two more to come. We hope you enjoyed it. And the next instalment will come very soon. Have a good day.

Expectations

mohanji-98

Hello friends, this is Mohanji.

I used to do podcasting many years ago when I was in Dubai in the mid-2000s. The podcasts were called, ‘Mohan’s World.’ It was in a studio, run by a man called Peter Hall. It was quite a cozy and comfortable makeshift studio, in a car shed. In the podcasts, I used to talk about something; (it was) one show every week. There were a lot of listeners from many parts of the world. People used to connect to me, talk to me, that is, and communicate with me.

This was the period before Facebook started and YouTube had just begun. There were much communication and many interactions (through the podcasts). When I stopped it, many people complained saying that we want it back! Due to various reasons, many years passed by and I couldn’t really put myself into a position where I could have steady communication. Now we are attempting to start a kind of communication, directly, from me to you. This is an attempt to connect using the waves of sound.

mohanji2

I like the radio. Radio has its charm. We are in the world of no visuals. Of all our senses, the one that consumes the most energy are the eyes. So I like the idea that we can close our eyes and listen, and it really makes sense to me. I like it. A type of communication, where you cannot see my face but you can only hear my voice and you accept my sound as it comes, and you remain as you are, at that point in time.

We will try to do one podcast a week, like I used to do earlier or if possible more. During this time of Corona, we have more time and I’m in one location, and so we will try to do more. The whole idea is that we are talking and we are communicating from a distance, where you don’t see my face and you’re only listening to my voice, and you accept it. You probably would like to assimilate it at your own pace. That is absolutely fine.

So, what are the subjects that we could talk about, or what do we talk? It depends on you. If you can tell me, if you have a particular subject that you would like me to address, I’m really happy to do that. And this subject should be relevant to the world. It should not be personal because that will not make sense. You have a personal issue and if I talk about it to the world over a podcast, it doesn’t make sense. So we should talk about something which everybody can relate to. That’s very important.

For every podcast, I will choose a subject, which would most likely be a universal topic, maybe something I heard of or something which I listened to or somebody asked me something etc. such that everybody can enjoy it. This is my idea.

Today, what do we talk about? I do not want to talk about anything serious today, because this is the introduction. We have started a podcast channel. We are now trying to get back to our old communication mode. Let us keep this episode very simple, very mild. And we will talk about the details of various things later; we have time.

expectations

Today, a little while back, I heard a particular speech by Osho. I didn’t listen to it fully. I listened to it for a few minutes, in which he said, “I’m happy that you don’t believe in me, because if you believed in me, it would have been my responsibility. Since you don’t believe in me, I’m relieved. I’m free. If you had actually believed in me, maybe you would have even taken revenge, because you would have come with expectations. And if you had come with expectations, and those expectations were not fulfilled, you might be angry; you might be disappointed; you might be upset. And you may take revenge on me. So, I’m relieved that I don’t have to tackle your revenge”.

It is ironical; it’s slightly skeptical or even satirical. But if we think deeply about it, isn’t that the truth? We connect to somebody with an expectation all the time. All of our relationships have an expectation, inbuilt in them. Have we thought about it? And what happens to that expectation? If it is fulfilled, you are happy and you would develop more expectations. If you don’t fulfil it or if it doesn’t get fulfilled, then disappointment happens. And that can even take to the edge of revenge. Is that person responsible? Absolutely not! It’s we who are connecting with an expectation, which is responsible for our reality. Thus, every time, our reality is completely controlled by how we are, what we are. This is very important to understand.

On that note, I will leave you today. This is food for thought. I would like to give you food for thought each time so that you can think about it.

A man who can contemplate is a human being. Human beings have the capacity for contemplation. We have the capacity for meditation. So, let us contemplate, let us analyze, let us understand, and let us assimilate. I am with you; I will talk to you again, later.

Wish you a great week ahead and be happy always and be safe.

Lots of love.

Is the Coronavirus a conspiracy?

Mohanji

What we see in the world is a lot of panic. None of the governments of the world was ready to handle a situation of this enormity, this size. We could see that most of the people, especially in Italy, could not handle the effects of this sudden spread of the disease effectively at all. That’s happened in most of the places. People did not know; there was no rehearsal; it just happened and people had to cope with it and the governments’ had to cope with it. No government would take a decision which would harm their economy.

Here, we see that situation; total lock down, really at a loss as to what to do and the old, hardened habits which are connected to social life, to change all that in one day it was very difficult. Governments had to do the impossible, to literally put people at home, in isolation. The question right now is how do we overcome this situation. That is why I said, do not deviate your attention on WHY this happened instead of what we should do. That’s more important at this point in time. We will understand what was behind it, who was behind it or whether it was man-made, whether it was nature’s answer to human insensitivity. All these things we will come to know sooner or later.

destruction

As an evolved species, we have a much larger responsibility than any other species. We cannot be selfish. We have to be very kind and compassionate because we have that choice. We have made machines which could literally destroy and devastate the earth. Since we know this and since we have a clear understanding of the machines and the weapons that we have, we should always maintain restraint. We should be mature, we should be compassionate and kind; we should always be selfless then only the collective consciousness will make a difference in the system, in the ecology. Now, it’s a collective consciousness of unconscious existence. That’s what we see today. People are in a mad rush, people are running, chasing, trying to compete and beat and make a difference in their own life, forgetting about every other matter. If we continue like that unconsciously, for a long period of time, nature has to retaliate. Nature retaliated.

I would like to consider this as a wake-up call. I have told this before. This is indeed a wake-up call where one species is put behind closed doors; totally on house arrest by nature. It does not matter who made it happen. The effect is we are all indoors. We are all in confinement and it is reasonably choice less. We don’t have much choice as the entire world is open to all the other species; all the migratory birds, the beings who are free in nature; they’re roaming free. They don’t have any fear about the human species.

polar-bear-dead

The most harmful species on earth is the human species; harmful for the beings in the sea, beings in the air and beings on the earth. We live unconsciously, we encroach into every aspect of everybody’s life, every being’s life and we do not have regrets. We have no guilt about it and we have excuses for disturbing, creating an imbalance in nature. Population growth is one of the excuses that we give. We need our spaces to sleep, we need houses but at the cost of lack of houses for many other species, lack of food for many other species.

We have done this enormously over time and I don’t see much change in the attitude. We do not have gratitude and our attitude is also the same. This is what this warning bell is for. Stop living unconsciously and start being responsible – that’s the message. Who created it? Actually speaking, at this point in time, I am NOT concerned about it.

But one point I have always said is that the 5G and the larger technological growth is only looking at human convenience from certain angles but not the human suffering or the radiations. Our rapid technological growth sometimes affects human existence; not only human existence but all existence – birds, animals, everybody is affected because of the frequency shift; because of 5G and stuff like that.

So, I would urge all the governments to think again before they actually implement the new technology even if we are a bit slow as we are now. We are at home and we do not have human contact apart from our family members at this point in time and we are somehow comfortable this way. There is no huge rush in malls, there is no huge rush in cinemas, so many places of congregations are vacant and we are fine; we are handling it well.

Maybe, many of the things that we thought is essential for our existence are probably not so essential. Maybe this is a good time to think. Most of the food joints are closed; home deliveries are closed. Still, we are surviving. We may not get all the things that we wanted or we were used to in the last few years because of this forced confinement. On one side, the materials are restricted; secondly addictions. So many people were addicted to various materials -material addiction. Many of those things are not available now and what happens when you don’t get it – huge withdrawal syndrome. I heard that a few people committed suicide because they could not get their alcohol or drugs. This is bound to happen because this is a vicious cycle which we unconsciously lived but now when we face the reality of the material not being available, what do we do? Sometimes, it’s a problem for families to handle such things.

quote

We are facing all these issues now because this forced confinement is just like putting a mirror on our own face. We start seeing ourselves; how we will be, how we will respond, how we will handle situations which are not predictable because we are used to predictable situations. No vehicles, no transportation no flights! It’s a complete lockdown.

As one species, we are responsible for the entire species. We are responsible for the actions of the entire species; whether we like it or not. Here, there is no caste, creed, country, culture, colour, religion, language; nothing, just a species; various expressions of one species and everybody are responsible for everybody. So, this is a very important point that we should consider at this point in time.

This is a time for introspection, contemplation; meditate on it. Look at human species and there’s so much to meditate on, to understand, assimilate. And this time is very good for that because we have no diversions, no distractions. If you switch on the television, all you hear is about coronavirus; after a while, you get fed up of it. People are only worried about their own lives. So, this is a good time to think in those angles instead of contemplating on the cause of this thing. Whatever the cause is, look at the effect; how it is affecting and affecting human life.

meditate

It’s not exactly the fear of coronavirus; it’s actually the fear of death that we are tackling. We are handling the fear of death in multiple dimensions with coronavirus; the effect of the virus and the possibility of imminent death as if we see death in front of us. How do we handle it? This is an existentialistic fear. This fear is born with us. When we are born, every hour, every moment we are walking towards death. We all know that but we don’t like to accept that. We’d like to believe that we will live forever. We must have all our likes fulfilled; dislikes taken away. We want all those things. We are experience bound; we are compelled to gather more and more experience using this physical body but the body is temporary. We are here only for some time.

An average life on earth, if we live for eighty years is only twenty-nine thousand days. It’s not a lot of days but we take it easy. We believe we will never die or we like to believe we will never die. We are chasing, competing, comparing, criticizing, judging, character assassinating; doing all sorts of things in the world, on earth! But at no point in time, do we think if this is the right thing to do!

Again this is a time for introspection. How many people we have harmed in our lives because of our insensitivity, unconscious lifestyle, ego and various other factors? We might have harmed a lot of people. This is a good time to take stock of our life.

So, I would like you to think in terms of the positives; much less pollution on earth. Apparently, the ozone layer is closing in. It’s improving. All the birds and the animals that are free and roaming are happy. And the climate change might be reversed; that’s what the newspapers say, if we continue like this without pollution, without emissions.

There are so many positive sides of this one effect of putting people at home.  So, this is a very important thing, a very good point to contemplate, to introspect, go within and to assimilate!

Mental health and stability

Mohanji meditate

March 26, 2020

Hello friends,

We are all on quarantine in our own houses. I think it’s the same all over the world, especially in India; we are all in a kind of house arrest. But this is inevitable. This is the real drastic step our global governments have taken to contain an epidemic and we must comply with it. We must support it. We must do everything possible to help our governments to stabilize the situation. This is very important. I understand there are a lot of inconveniences because many people have already told me about their suffocation because of forced isolation, about deteriorating mental levels, uneasy psychological states, feeling terrible, self-esteem affected; all these things are expected, I have spoken about these possibilities a long time ago when I said almost the entire global population might be affected emotionally and psychologically.

When we are in confinement for more than a reasonable time, this is bound to happen. And this is not about any external factor. This is actually something internal because it’s about a situation that we are used to versus a situation that we are forced into. So, we are used to a situation where we were in our extreme freedom, where we could go anywhere, do what we liked, we could buy anything, and we could eat anything, we could go to places; we could have entertainments at various levels. This was our reality before, but right now, that’s not our reality. It’s all confinement. And we have certain restrictions in food as well. This is very uncomfortable for many people.

I’m responding to a few questions which came to me, in fact, some people have told me that they are going through this tough internal process. I’m not surprised. That’s why I’m giving this message.

In a situation where there is forced isolation, we are bound to have inconveniences, suffocation. This is what people feel in prisons. That’s exactly what the animals feel in the factory farms. That’s what the animals feel in zoos. So, wherever there is confinement, there is suffocation and there is a lot of emotional distraction. Then we start blaming every external factor like governments, like the enforcement bodies for our state of suffering. It’s not true. It’s actually the sign of times. The situation is not created by our governments, global governments. They have not done this. This has happened due to whatever reasons; I don’t even go into who created it because that’s already created. Let’s look at the effect; we will not look at the source because there’s no need to know the source right now as it will not help us. It will only probably accent our level of distraction, accelerate our suffocation, discomfort or our discontentment.

So, I would rather, you focus on your inner state. And some people ask me, how did you attain this state of calmness? My answer is through self-imposed isolation. My question is that are you ready to have that answer? I’m not underestimating you. I’m not saying that you are not up there. It’s not the point. The point is that in every situation, we have the ability to remain calm, not blaming any other bodies, any other external factors, people, places, time, various situations, and just count on our gains and merits. We have a place to sleep. Number one, that is a shelter. Second, we have food to eat. Maybe that’s not the food you like to eat, but we have something to eat, we can satisfy our hunger. We have something to eat, we have a place to sleep and we have clothes, some kind of protection from the environment. So, this is exactly the basics that we look for, any existence looks for; any human being, any sentient being looks for. So we have all that. And I think this is very important to remember, understand and acknowledge at this point in time.

social acceptance

When emotions are running high and we start fighting with people, in the families, we start blaming them for past events and reasons and stuff like that; we are creating hell in our own homes. And I think that we should never do that because now, God or nature has kept us together in our homes, our families together, and that should be counted as a blessing, not as a curse. We should always look at our blessings. If you have to reach higher levels of awareness, you need to have a lot of deeper levels of acceptance, a very high level of acceptance. So acceptance is very important; acceptance of oneself, acceptance of the situations, acceptance of the people around you. Even if some people in your household are angry, upset and they’re blaming everything, it is up to you to pacify them, console them, give them the reasons and the awareness. You should tell them; look here, all that you talk has no value in this situation which is not created by us. It has befallen on us. You know, it’s like you are out there in the streets without an umbrella, then the rain starts and there is no shade, you will be drenched. That’s not because you did anything wrong or somebody did something wrong to you that it happened that way. The situation created it and you are experiencing that effect.

Now, there are places in the city where people said the police are literally attacking or beating people when they come to get some resources etc. Well, I would like to say that this is part of the enforcement bodies’ job. They have been instructed not to have people coming together in some places because then the virus gets transferred. One person can infect a 1000 people, or maybe more, if he goes into public places. So, we need to understand that these enforcement bodies have their job to do for our sake. Maybe they are doing it aggressively because they don’t want to take any chances. So there’s no point in blaming. I think we should just take care of ourselves, and we should follow orders and we should trust the governments now, whichever country you are in, we should trust the governments to do their best. As I had said earlier, no government was equipped to handle something of this nature and size. They never expected a situation of this kind, where there is a total embargo.  You can’t move anywhere, you can’t go anywhere, all the borders are closed and situations are out of control. So, they will definitely do whatever it takes or whichever way they can, to create the effect where the disease does not spread further.

So, we need to comply; we need to accept. Now lastly, what I would like to say is that this is a great chance for you to develop your highest level of awareness. First, stop blaming anybody. That’s the first step. Nobody is responsible for this, maybe we can say collective consciousness created this effect. If the collective consciousness of our unconscious lifestyle was not responsible, we will not be in confinement. It is collective consciousness; collective consciousness born out of insensitivity, collective consciousness derived out of unconscious lifestyles, and the collective consciousness of taking the nature for granted, or the collective consciousness that took our nature for granted. We have encroached into every territory, we have captured, tormented, tortured and killed various species; we have done much harm to our own brotherhood; our own nature, our own fellow species, the species that are coexisting with us. We have harmed them and we have thought that they are all for us to enjoy, or do whatever it takes. And then just like we had slavery in the past where we used to buy and sell people; use people as we liked and kill people if we didn’t like; the same thing we are doing with animals and birds today. So this mindset has to change and nature is giving us a chance to do that. Nature is giving us a chance to be humans again.

mohanji-quote-awareness-through-acceptance

You know, we are used to certain habits; habits are broken. Addictions – we are used to certain addictions, some people are addicted to cigarettes and some people are addicted to alcohol, or drugs and so many things, and that’s not easily available now. So, the addicts go through tremendous stress. And if there are such people in your house, they will be displaying various levels of irritation, violence or aggression. We have to handle them wisely. There’s no other way. We need to have enough stability to handle everything in our houses. And maybe, you won’t get much medical support for them at this point in time because all the doctors and the clinics are busy taking care of the coronavirus situation. You may not get much assistance to access the de-addiction facilities. So, that has to be understood. And some people are going into the level of suicide as their withdrawal symptoms are really wild and violent. I understand that too because that’s part of it. And that was supposed to happen in this kind of forced isolation.

So, every situation you look at are all chances for you to change for the better. Be stable, calm and handle situations as it comes. The first step is acceptance, non-resistance. Second step is accepting the society or accepting the environment as it is. And please understand; now the governments have said that only the family members and close family members should stay together, the rest of the people should be staying in their own facilities which prevents us from having guests at home. This is not a punishment. This is because they want to isolate and monitor. This I understand, I spoke to somebody from this enforcement authority earlier and they said, they don’t want to punish anybody. They want to keep people sufficiently apart so that they can monitor them easily. They want to make sure that the people who are not part of the family stay outside the family so that the families are properly taken care of as well; this way, individually or in one group, they can contain the possibility of the virus spreading. So, I think that we need to just obey and follow what the government says, just because they have a definite plan.

So, we are not supposed to keep any non-family members in our houses and we are not supposed to go to other houses while in isolation, but at the same time we must take care of our people. So if you have anybody isolated and they don’t have access to assistance; our people are isolated and don’t have access to medical support or shelter or food, do let us know. We will try to do something but no guarantee what we can do because we also do not have mobility.

Do not blame God. Do not blame situations. Do not blame Gurus. Do not blame your father and mother. Do not blame your doctors; do not blame your government. This blame game is going to really sap your energy and that’s not going to give you any kind of strength. Secondly, fear is absolutely not required, if you have taken the precaution, if you’re staying away from the public, if you’re following the instructions of the government, the public authority, the hospitals, you don’t have to worry. If you engage in activities that are not recommended, then you are responsible, not them. So, we must understand the situation clearly; we must obey accordingly; we must follow accordingly.

So, again, coming back to this question, please take care of yourself, please take care of your family and accommodate everybody who is at home peacefully and with love. People of your own family may have various demands, disagreements, and disappointments because of this forced togetherness. So, we as a family should try to contain it. We should not blame each other and fight with each other and make it miserable inside the house where it is miserable to exist together. So, don’t make that situation. If that situation happens because of other family members, diffuse it. Pacify everybody, talk to everybody, and make sure everybody understands.

Take your time. Maintain silence, if possible. If you have enough inner strength and if you have gained strength through good associations, talk to the world and give them some confidence. If you have strength, if you have stability, share it. That’s the highest thing you can do at this time because even though the world is closed, social media is active; you have all those spaces to convey your message through and use it properly and convey your strength and your stability effectively. If you are unstable, then you have to maintain silence. You’re to do more of pranayama – breathing, meditate, connect to yourself and look at yourself as an outsider. Introspect. Contemplate. What exactly is annoying you? What is making you angry? And don’t blame outside entities, outside beings, spaces, time and people. They not important. That’s escapism. Instead, go within and see what is hurting you inside. If you’re very steady in your connection with the supreme consciousness, God or guru, nothing will destabilize you. This is for sure. That’s the only connection you really need at this point in time. Faith is medicine when fear is the disease.

mohanji-quote-anger-hatred-jealousy

So, you need to see what is destabilizing you, what is annoying you, what is making you irritated? Those are the things which you probably need to pluck out of your system. And that’s a good thing, write them down and understand – “this particular thing is irritating me”. Not having a cigarette is irritating me. Not having coffee is irritating me. Anxiety for not having the food which I want to eat is irritating me. So this is good for your introspection, you can understand where you stand. Write them down on a piece of paper and burn them. As the paper becomes ash, those feelings also should become ash in your mind.

I leave you with these thoughts and please think about it and try to understand and transform yourself; try to assimilate yourself and stop blaming the governments, the systems and the enforcement authorities. Don’t blame your family members or each other for past events, incidents or past actions and never make people’s life miserable in your house. Instead, try to love, try to forgive everything and forget the past for good. Try to love and give lots of love to people unconditionally. Renew friendships with your family members and try to understand them and their feelings better hereafter. People really need love and probably we have failed to give love to our own people for a long time since we have been very busy; this is the right time to do that. So, give love, share love, protect people and tell people – I love you – wholeheartedly within the family.  If you have not told them for a long time, tell them now and display that and make it extremely sincere.  This is the right time to do that because you have all your family members available within your house. So do that and convey love to your friends that you care, through phone, social media, etc. Always understand that together we are strong; divided or separated, we are weak. So, let us remain together as one family, one global family and let us support each other as one global family. All the people are in the same situation like us. So, don’t try to do portray yourself as a victim. We are all victims in that mode. So don’t worry about it too much as all are in the same boat.

This is the time as I said yesterday to press the reset button and completely cleanse yourself and make yourself stronger and stable. And then your world will be better for you. This is the right chance for that. And I’m always with you. I’m walking with you.

I will always be with you. Just be happy and do your best. Lots of love.

Cultivate Change, part 2

Mohanji Speaks Zoom satsang
on 09th June 2019

P2350799

Q: Mohanji, I am emotionally drained and in a rut. I want to get out of it, but I don’t know how. Please guide me.

Mohanji: Be useful to the society. Go out, help the helpless. Whenever you feel you are stuck, go out and see the world. There are so many things you can do in this world. What you can share is what you have in abundance. You have time in abundance, share time; if you have wealth in abundance, share wealth; if you have love in abundance, share love. Don’t sit at home and think that nobody is loving me. You go out and love the world, love the people, love the beings of the world, the children of the Earth. You will get love in abundance. Whenever you feel stagnated, whenever you feel emotional, get out and do something in life. It will completely change your entire perspective. Your whole life will blossom.

Q: What is the difference between poor self-esteem and insignificance?

Mohanji: Well, both are connected to expectations. The other important thing is acceptance, in the right way. Accept yourself more. Say, you have fluctuations in life;  one day you are very happy and very productive, another day you are dull and unproductive. If this wave of life is happening, that only means you are living.  There is nothing more to it. Don’t try to analyze why it is happening. It is happening, it is happening. Thus, when you have good energy, when you have high momentum, do your best. Go all the way, do your best. When you have very little momentum, are feeling low, slow down, take it easy, take a back seat. You attend to yourself. Look within. Don’t do anything. So, if you really look at yourself as this vibrating organism which has  its relevance you will be fine with your life. So whenever we resist something, have plenty of expectations and corresponding disappointments, we will have low self-esteem. Insignificance is the effect it creates.

Mohanji and Nadananda 21July2019, Kurnool (1)

There is no insignificance in life. Everybody has significance. Even the ants, the insects and the beings you see around our house,  have significance. They are all doing their job.   Don’t worry about their size. Whatever be their size, they have their relevant existence. Even an ant is  relevant to its own family,  just  as we see everyone in this world has some relevance somewhere. It need not necessarily be everywhere.  Hence we have our significance; that significance is based on how much you give to this world and this you can decide. Lack of self-esteem can be easily handled by accepting yourself.

“Alright, I am like this – with this given capacity, this incarnation, this time and space, I perform.” That is all you can do and that’s all you need to do.

Q: Some great siddhas like Atmananda, Lahiri Mahasaya have cast out their sacred body in the sacred fire of cremation. How can we connect to these masters who have not left their powerful vibrating jivasamadhi state?

Mohanji: That is based on purpose. All these great masters have complete clarity of their existence and they come (into this world) based on what is needed. After a while when they have crossed the mind, when the mind dissolves in the state of Samadhi, their entire existence is connected to purpose, dharma – not karma. Karmas are over. When this happens, they will only do what is necessary. It is not for sensory pleasures, emotional pleasures or pleasures of the mind, intellect and ego. They are not bound by these any more. Their entire purpose of existence is what they are sent here for or what they are supposed to do. Their operating level will be an echo of Dharma, which means, operating Sanatana Dharma, perpetual ground rules of operation.  In that mode, if they have to leave their body for the sake of larger population or future generations, they will do it.

Mohanji quote - Practical wisdom 5

As Atmananda says, “I will walk on this Earth, as if I have never walked.” That means he will empower people, he will do things, as if he were alive at that time. In future, there should not be a reminiscence of Atmananda, everything should be burned. But Atmananda still proved that he has not left. This is the operating level. He is telling people, “I am not bound by the body.” Even while existing I can be everywhere. Now when I am leaving the body, a body is not that significant because the point of operation like a siddha leaving the body is like a 100,000 prana prathishtas, which is to say that continuously, energy will flow out of that. Examples are Shirdi Sai Baba, Satya Sai Baba – samadhis of great masters are power centers now. However, every one need not do that and each person does what he is supposed to do. Name and fame are not important.

The entire operating level is purpose; once the purpose is accomplished, they dissolve. Just like a bird or animal, their existence is completed and they don’t care. When it is time to leave, they do; there is no emotional binding to it. So a true master will only obey the rules of the tradition. They will say, “This is what I am supposed to do, I will do the same and leave.” They don’t expect anything from anybody. Nobody’s applause or criticism can redirect them to something selfish; never, it’s not possible. They will stay with their path and if people don’t understand them, people leave them. The masters don’t leave their path. The path is very clear. And the path of liberation is the path of fire. It’s not easy to understand. It burns your feet, if you are not eligible. So the path itself drives people away (chuckles). For a person who is fully occupied in consciousness and only operating on Dharma, it really does not matter. But if it is needed they will definitely keep their body in a place or they will say, “Burn it.”  Vasudevan swamy wanted his body to be cremated. We did that and I myself immersed the ash in the Ganga. It is as per the wish of the master. Nobody can say anything about it.

Mohanji quote - Test of time

Q:  Pranaprathishta on Vigrahas has happened down the ages by Maharishis and Siddhas, but a Pranaprathishta in a recorded version as felt in Power of Purity meditation is indeed an incredible contemporary phenomena. Can you elaborate on this?

Mohanji: Well, Pranaprathishta is inducing energy in a particular way, using a method, into an idol. That has to be maintained as well. In the Indian tradition, we have the tradition of Sanatana. Great masters have recognized the Supreme Consciousness as all-encompassing and they have derived 330 million varieties from it. Why that particular number? It signifies 33%. So 330 million deities – deities means potential gods, which can have a form, which has a circuit- yantra, which has a frequency – mantra and it has a duration and a purpose, in fact, a clear purpose; each one has a flavor and an ideal behind it. And the form is created based on the ideal, the circuit is created as per the intensity requirement, frequency is created as per the effectiveness. All this has been done by great masters.

How do you worship these 330 million deities? The masters said, worship the 33% of you, which is the soul element. When you worship the soul element, when you connect to your soul element, you will see no differences then. You can’t see people; you cannot see birds or animals. You only see the soul in you and the soul in everybody. That is “Namaste” “I am not me. The existence in me bows down to the existence in you”. So the me or mine factor or I factor dilutes. We see only the existence factor. What maintains us is the soul element and we bring into the idol that soul element using a certain system.  As per the idol means as per the ideal. An idol is thus created. It has a size which can retain the energy, it has its worship methods to maintain it and also it has its bhaavs or flavours which is maintained.

Power of purity is a meditation basically to unhook – unhook from the past, where you are in a capacity to bless. That means your level of purity increases every moment, because when you unhook from the past, you are in the present. When you have nothing to do with the past, the people, the situations, the time and the emotions, you are pure. The purity inside will stabilize you and that stability will make you bright. So why is the power of purity spreading? Because it creates a remarkable difference in people’s lives and they feel it. I felt it is priceless. That’s why I kept it free so that everybody can experience it. And I don’t claim it to be mine. It came to me. I have no other claim of any kind, either to say that it is mine or that I created it. It happened through me and it came to the world, it is as simple as that. So how are the effects happening? I would say don’t analyze. Analysis automatically takes the fragrance away. The beautiful flower is smelling nice, but it will not be that nice if you start looking at where the fragrance is coming from, the flower will be destroyed. So I feel it is better to not analyze. Experience it, enjoy it and be liberated. That is best.

Mohanji quote - Effective living

Q: what makes one mountain such as Kailash or Arunachala more important than other regular mountains for seekers and how are they related to Shiva? Did Shiva physically live at this locations? And did Maa Parvathi physically meditate in the Gourikund?

M : Well, whether they physically lived there or not, whether the effect is there or not, these are for the individuals to experience. If I say something it will become a concept, but let us look at why certain some places are so important. It is because of the energy conglomeration there. Places have their frequency and energy or power. Every part of earth has its vibratory level. Everything is different, just as it is for people. Each of us has our vibratory level. When we become more and more into ourselves, mind, intellect ego is turned inward and we are completely aligned, we become powerful. Then we start expressing more and more brightness. Similarly, we have all these places that have their frequency and conglomerated energy, saturated energy, which attracts people there.

So what is Shiva? Shiva is a state, a state of complete detachment. Detachment here implies one who is fully occupied with himself and is completely in a state of being complete or still. Stillness is connected to completion. He  also represents  the human aspiration, the highest potential. So that place can attract that kind of energies. Whether Shiva as a form lives there, is not significant. But the state of Shiva is experienced there. The state of stillness. The Kailash effect. That is experienced there. So that is probably attracting people.

Mohanji quote - Harmony and respect, sanatana dharma

As for Arunachala,  I am not sure if I spoke about my experience earlier, but I have written about it  in Yogi Ram Suratkumar’s journal, which was released recently.  So I had this experience where I was going inside this Arunachala Mountain and this Swami with bare chest, wearing only a dhoti, said “Come in and keep walking”. I entered a cave and it became darker and darker. He said keep walking. He was behind me and he urged me to walk.  I could not see but I walked in and I walked all the way inwards and then slowly the brightness started. I walked further and he was asking me to keep moving and I reached a place where it was open expanse, a  big space, like a small basin, bit curved in the middle, lot of platforms like stools although not stools, it was like rock formations, where  people were  meditating and everybody was glowing in golden color. Then I realized that this color is not them, it is the color of the space. The space is golden and when the golden light falls  on everyone,  everybody looks golden.  Also I could feel that they are all like crystals, transparent, big beard and  very lean. Everybody looked very  similar and they were  meditating. At first, I thought it was the golden age, rather the symbolism of golden age.   Later  I understood it to be  Siddhaloka. Then he said, “Let’s go.” And I came out with him. That was an experience! Later on when I spoke about it to Deviamma, Deviamma said this is actually Sidhaloka; what you see outside is just the shell. Actually, the parikrama is going around the Siddhaloka and I could also see that the root of the idol of Arunachala Shiva, is inside this portal. There is a huge world there. I could experience this state. That effect stayed for a long time. Even now it stays, when I talk about it, I feel it. So these things exist. Various levels of masters operate from various planes. These are all timeless spaces,  spaces where you cannot measure time and space. These are places created for a certain effect. The next day our people were going to visit the Arunachala Shiva temple. I could not go because I was immersed in this vision. When I reached Bangalore later, a certain person  contacted saying that a  swami wanted  to meet me, so I met him. Swami said, I wanted to tell you Arunachala Shiva is waiting for you, you could not go but you need to go. Immediately I went back the next day to have darshan of Arunachala Shiva. And at that time everything was well organized. When I went there one of the priests came to receive me and we went inside, we had darshan and we came back. Everything is interconnected.

Mohanji quote - Immortality 1

This  is slight deviation from subject, but what I am saying is that each place has its frequency. Each place has its relevance. And based on your frequency, your connection, you will get attracted to that place. Otherwise you will  not feel like going there. What attracts you to a place is the compatibility of frequency and that is there for all of us. And as I said earlier nobody is higher, nobody is lower. You can’t compare. It’s all individualistic. So if you are getting attracted to a person, a personality, a time or a space or a place or even a hill or mountain, understand that there is frequency compatibility. So that is the reason for all these. But definitely in this world there are numerous frequencies in operation. They all have their spaces which are like expressions of those frequencies, conglomeration and that attracts you. And some of our people in 2016 went and touched Kailash physically. This is very, very difficult, very rare, very difficult, very dangerous, but they did it. How many life times does it take to reach there? So what made it possible? Only one thing – eligibility; eligibility, over a period of time.  Of course  purity of intention has a great value,  but  more importantly  you earned it. The time came, when it all fell in place. The time was right for that. You can’t define all these. There aren’t strict rules to create these.  Hence every place has its value and I would say that wherever you go feel the place, experience the place not just take a picture with it in the  background. It should be felt. Every place should be felt. Every person should be felt. When you connect with your heart, whatever it is, whether it is a person or a place, it stays. It always stays. Whenever you connect to anything with your mind it can change, because our mind can’t contain something for long.  Whenever you connect to something or somebody with your mind understand it is temporary. Whenever you connect something with your heart, whatever happens in the world, it will stay, always; by heart means I would say connect with awareness and then it will stay forever.

Mohanji quote - Immortality 2

Q: Is it possible for me to have an intention carry along the souls and dear ones with me for the Kailash Pilgrimage?

Mohanji: Automatically it happens so. Because a pilgrimage of that intensity where you are travelling, you are not travelling alone. You are taking the whole lineage, ancestry. All those people who wanted to go and could not go or people who are connected to you through relationships, you are carrying everybody. We used to do this earlier and even now we do it in our Kailash yatra – we ask if you would like to sponsor somebody in case you cannot go. Many times if people can’t go, they sponsor someone on behalf of themselves and their families. This is usual practice in India. Earlier it was Kashi or Varanasi. Kashi is very easy to reach now, there are flights. Earlier it was very difficult to reach there. So when somebody can’t go they would hire somebody or help someone else go. It’s almost as if they visit the place. We still do that – the form provides for it;  ”Would you like to sponsor somebody?” It is customary. It is not that one has to sponsor, but then we provide the option. If you can’t go, you help someone else who is poor, visit, and then that effect comes to you also. They will carry everybody.

When you go to a place of power, whenever you worship, it’s always for you and your ancestors. The lineage gets the benefit. Likewise you do good work, say, you help the helpless, feed the birds, animals, fishes and other beings in nature, everybody gets benefitted, all the people in the lineage are benefitted. That will release karmic weight from your shoulder also. The karmic weight of the lineage is reduced. This is a practical example- many have told me that when they started feeding beings such as birds and animals, things have cleared up, blockages were removed. It may sound very simple, but it has its effect.

Mohanji quote - Truth 5 (Simple truths)

Q: If a person’s brain is damaged and person is not aware of normal self, what is the state of soul and the mind?

Mohanji: The connection to relationships is part of soulmateship, where a group of souls decide to exist together in the same time, in the same place, in certain relationships, to experience certain flavors. Thus, a person who is not available to the society, as a full person, is in a way keeping the connection to a relationship, it is continuing and the person has time till next birth; so they keep the body, they keep the existence and also keep the relationship; so the connection remains. Also the experience of love or care or experience of whatever kind they want to do or have happens, even without the mind existing, since the body exists. At times, you never know, they may be aware of it too and science has proven that  persons apparently brain dead or in coma, in certain ways, understood everything happening around them. That is possible. So, anyone living with awareness, connection, love, it finally boils down to the experiences you wanted to have in a life time. At which level, how much or how long, one can’t say, it depends on karmic boundaries.

Q: Why is it not that all sincere prayers are answered?

Mohanji: That is again Karmic allowance. Sincere prayers are all answered means many are desires… (chuckles). You know, you only get what you deserve. What is delivered to you is what you deserve. There are plenty of desires and all of them can’t get fulfilled. Of course, if the desire is strong enough, it will get fulfilled, maybe not in this life time. It could go onto another life. All that is happening in this life is within the boundaries of Karma and has Karmic allowance, that’s why it is happening. Everything does happen in its time, its own time, which we must remember. So it may not happen right away, because the whole plan was not there, the whole agenda was not there. When the original desire happened, the wish happened, which created this life, it was not there. The new ones will be added up; they are all kept as pending desires. In another time and another space, it will happen and at that time you may say I don’t want it. But you will have it.

Mohanji quote - Truth finds truth

Q: When any member of the Mohanji family asks me something like, are you going on a pilgrimage to Peru or Kailash, I immediately take it as a sign from you and I go out of my way, beyond my affordability to make it happen. Am I being naïve? How can I know when I am truly getting a sign from you?

Mohanji: Well, when anybody comes to you, of course you have a relationship, anybody asks you give me something, there is a connection. Whether it is from Mohanji family or the global family or anybody, you have to look at it objectively. What is affordable to you? What is possible for you? You are only supposed to deliver as per that, not as per what others need you to do. Many people have many expectations from you. But what you can deliver is as per your time, space and capacity. This should be very clear. And you should be able to say clearly, “Look here I heard you and I will do what I can. I cannot guarantee the entire expectation”.  If that is made clear, you are free and the other person is made free. I always make sure I tell this, I don’t promise. I try to deliver more than they think but I don’t promise. When I promise, it becomes a commitment. There is an emotion connected to it too. But I listen, I understand, I deliver as per what is possible, as per what is karmically allowed or without violating the karmic structure. That is how we operate. That is how the people of path of liberation should operate. We don’t manipulate. We should not promise that which we cannot deliver. We should only deliver what we can or within our capacity and the capacity of the receiver so that everything has it’s synchronicity and harmony. It is very important.

Q: May I request Mohanji, the compassionate, honest, selfless human being to talk about Mohanji the contemporary Avatar more explicitly and elaborately?

Answer: This is too much of flattering I think… (Laughter J). I would rather say that I am you. You look at me as you are. Whatever I am has no value in fact. Each person looks at me and sees how they are. That is the only relevance in this life time. Because I could be anything and I can say I am something. That has no value because my value in your life is your only reality with me. I mean we can talk many things. All these things are how you see it. You could look at me as you said. Some look at me as a crazy person, an eccentric, as a person who should not be dealt with, a bad guy… so these thoughts are also there. World has all varieties. So why talk about who we are? What was our past, what is our lineage, it has no value. I feel that my net worth is how much I deliver to the Earth. That’s about it and that is also based upon my effective years when I am performing something, delivering to the earth. Tomorrow I don’t know what I will be able to do, how I will operate. I don’t know. I don’t keep agendas. I never bind people. I like to see you free. This is my wish and the way I operate. I want to see you perfectly free, fully charged, fully powerful with the ability to deliver a lot in the world. This is my desire and this is what I try to empower.

Mohanji quote - Being conscious

So I try to do what I can, I don’t know how effective I am. Maybe some will say he was effective, some may say he was not effective; some may say he was good, some may say he was not good. So this is the world. People look at you with their own eyes and they may partially understand or even hardly understand. Very rarely, they completely understand but that is life. Only one thing I would like to say, “Don’t look at me through your ears”. Your eyes have been given for you to look at me. When I say do not look at me through your ears, I mean through the words and opinions of others about me. That can be very wrong. People can give any opinion about anybody, but that is their own opinion. Not just me, understand that you should not use that to look at the world. If you look at the world through your ears, you don’t see. That is a big mistake you will be committing. Otherwise the world is fine; if you are fully charged, if you are very bright, the whole world is bright. So I am not big deal in this world, I am doing my job and after my death someone else will do the job, before me, so many others have done this job. So we all have our relevance in various degrees and I like to remain in that understanding. If I have touched your life positively, I am grateful to the existence, to the tradition. I never made any plans in the past. I will continue to shine bright, as much as I can; irrespective of the clouds, I try to give light but people accept me or reject me as they are, not as I am. So I don’t say anything about it. I really appreciate and I think it is a bit of flattering but I respect that and I bow down for that thought and those words. I like positive discussions so let us keep it positive. And one more thing, if you really love me, I would like you to be shining bright light for this world. If you are really connected to me, if you feel Mohanji, then express it to the world. Give this light to the world and let the world be brighter and lighter. We can’t do much else. We can only deliver ourselves to the world. Earlier in 2003 when the ACT foundation started somebody asked me a question, what is your investment into this foundation? This is before Mohanji Foundation started. I answered that the investment into ACT foundation is Mohanji, myself. So the best investment you can give into this world is yourself. That, you should always remember. Any money, wealth or other object has come to you at a certain point in time and it could leave you too. But if you invest yourself into this world, that will remain forever. I think that is the best investment possible and I wish you success. I wish you great success. Shine bright, brighter than the sun, brighter than a million suns and then life is worth it. You have the right to do that, you have the power to do that. Then we have something to do together. Wish you success. Thank you!

Skanda Vale Satsang – Part 1

In summer 2018, Mohanji visited Skanda Vale ashram in the UK. On 17th August, he did Prana Pratishta to the first idol of Lord Dattatreya in Europe (download discourse – mp3 ) and to Nagaraja murti as well.(download discourse – mp3 ).

Here is the satsang he conducted afterwards.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Q: My question is about nature. Dattatreya is nature. During his time, many thousands of years ago, people would have been nature-worshippers. I want to know whether there is any resurgence of that or a need for resurgence of that type of connection.

Mohanji: I would put it as going back home. If you look at all the Vedas, the Sun is worshipped in three aspects. We say

Brahma swarupaya suryaya namaha

which means Sun as Brahma. Because of the Sun’s rays, life happens.

Vishnu swarupaya suryaya namaha

That means the maintenance and sustenance of life is sustained by Sun’s energy.

Rudra swarupaya suryaya namaha

That means whatever is finished, completed, or what gets dissolved or recycled is because of the Sun’s rays.

So our connection to the Sun is most natural, it is the most realistic. What other thing is more realistic than the sun? Likewise, nature and we are the same. What you see as nature are the elements: earth, water, air, fire, space. We are the same. We are a conglomeration of all these this.

Datta represents nature. When somebody asked him, “Who are you?” He just said, “I am a worshipper of nature. I am nature.” Datta is a reminder. Look at him as a mirror. When you look into Datta, what you see is nature. You are also a conglomeration of elements. When we die and leave the body, the body disintegrates into elemental form. This recycling is happening. The soul aspect plus the sheaths, including desires, memories, etc., travel out. The body is left behind. We always had that clarity. As original human beings we had that clarity. Of course, we have had various trials and errors to know who we are. That’s because the mind is in the middle. You have to convince the mind that there is a problem, but that’s part of our existence. We need to make the mind happy to go further. It’s like when Hanumanji was crossing the ocean to reach Lanka to find Sita. There was a huge demon in the middle who was taking care of the ocean. It means that part of the ocean belonged to her. She said, “Nobody goes this way. I eat them.” Hanumanji said, “I must go. There’s no other way.” Then she said, “Ok, I’ll keep my mouth open” and he said “I’ll enter”. So he entered in the form of a mosquito. He entered and exited quite fast. By the time she closed her mouth, he was gone.

Audience: (laughter)

Mohanji: Like that, the mind is like a huge mouth. We have to find some way to enter and also to exit. Then the nature is the best connection for it. Always a reminder that I am the nature. I am nature.

Nature has two aspects for human understanding. One is that you have brought a nature. You have a nature which contains likes and dislikes, your flavours, expressions. We all have unique flavours. That’s what we are expressing into the world. It’s not the same as anyone else’s. It could be similar, but it’s not the same. Our expression comes out of our nature i.e. what we are as a constitution which is the mind, body, intellect, ego, spirit. With this constitution we express into this world. This is also part of the nature. Again, the highest expression is Datta, that’s again a reminder that compassion, kindness, unconditional love – all these are the highest expressions possible of this life. Anger, hatred, jealousy, revenge, are the lowest. We choose to express higher and that becomes our highest expression of our nature.

Nature outside is the elements. We are built out of it. We came out of it and we go back to it. Just like the way sound comes out of silence and goes back into silence. The nature of consciousness is silence. Every sound, every creation comes out of it. It emerges, exists for some time and dissolves, just like every sound. It appears, stays and goes back. Everything is like that. This is the core of Vedas. The Upanishads were explanations to it on the intellectual side – intellectual understanding of life and the operations of life. The Upanishads, the Vedantas are the scriptural aspects. All these are interconnected.

So there is Datta Upanishad. Avadhoota Geeta is Dattatreya’s teachings.  His core teaching is : Be nature, be the flow.

Be nature, be the flow. So if you are constantly aware of your nature meaning , your qualities, your personality, that itself will give you peace of mind. So, understanding our nature is very vital for progress. Then we will not compare ourselves with another person. We will not have comparisons, we will not have any kind of conflicts, because all are expressing their own nature. And that’s exactly what world wanted. Different natures, and diversity of life forms. So that’s what we want.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Q: Earlier today you were chanting something to sister Gemma. Is there a possibility to explain it for us?

Mohanji: It is called Shiva Tandava Stotram. I don’t remember the whole lyrics, I just chanted only the first three stanzas. I think you know the story of Ravana of Ramayana. The one who kidnapped Sita and then Rama went to rescue her. Sister Gemma was talking about it. Yesterday the priest was chanting something which was so beautiful and powerful. So I said some of the chants which are original cannot have other versions of them. People have tried their best to compose another Tandava but they couldn’t. The great poets broke their heads over this and still nothing happened. So that’s the story. I think you know the story, right? Should I repeat it?

Audience: We love stories… (Laughter)

Mohanji: As Ravana was coming out of the house, he saw his mother worshipping the Shivalinga. Then he asked his mother,

“What are you worshipping?”

His mother said, “This is the Shivalinga.”

Ravana asked, “What does that represent?”

She said, “Kailash.”

“Is that so? Why are you representing an imitation? I will bring the real Kailash to you.”

Ravana always loved to have all the best things of the world in his yard. So he went to Kailash. He was a very strong man, and he put his hand underneath it and tried to lift it. Shiva put His toe on top of Kailash. All his fingers got trapped beneath and it was tremendously painful. He couldn’t let go either, because hands were underneath. And Shiva waited. Shiva is not busy. (Laughter).

So with His toe, He pressed Kailash on Ravana’s feet and waited. Ravana started crying.

(Laughter)

Then he chanted this:

“Jatatavigalajjala pravaahapavitasthale

Galey valambya lambitaam bhujangatungamalikaam

Damad damad damaddama ninaadavadamarvayam

Chakaara chandataandavam tanotu nah shivah shivam.’’

Anybody knows this? (Laughter)

He chanted this and it was amazingly powerful, describing Tandava of Shiva and its various dimensions. Shiva became very happy. He didn’t give Kailash away. But he asked, “What do you want? What can I give you?” So Ravana said, “I actually came for Kailash, but you will not give it.” (Laughter). “My mother worships Shivalinga.”

Shiva then took a part of His soul out and created a linga and gave it to him. And just imagine part of the soul of Shiva going as Shivalinga. All the gods and goddesses became afraid. If Ravana took it to Lanka he would become supremely powerful, because if you give a weapon to somebody who knows how to use it, he will use it. So they were worried.

They told Lord Ganesha, “You must do something before this guy reaches there, we must catch him.”

Lord Ganesha waited on the way, where he was going with this Atmalinga and he told Ravana ,”You have not done your evening pujas. You forgot.”

Ravana said, “I have no time. I can’t do it. I am busy.”

So Ganesha said, “Just imagine how much bad energy you will be creating because you are not worshipping enough.”

Ravana said, “Forget it. And now I am going and solving this matter (of taking Atmalinga to his mother). What’s the big deal?”

Ganesha replied, “You should actually do your sandhyavandana, evening prayers.”

Ravana said, “But you know, I’m carrying something precious and I can’t put it on the ground. Shiva has told me, ‘If you put the Shivalinga on the ground, then you won’t be able to pick it up anymore. It stays there.’ So I can’t put it on the ground.”

Ganesha said, “I will hold it for you.”

Ganesha had chosen to appear as a retarded child, and that appearance was a bit of comfort for Ravana. A very smart child would have been a problem. This was a retarded child so there was no problem to give it the Shivalinga. Ravana told the child, “Okay you keep it. Don’t put it on the ground. I’m going to take a bath. After my puja, I’ll come back and pick it up.

The child said, “No problem – you go. I have no work.”

And as soon as Ravana went to take a dip, Ganesha put the Shivalinga on the ground and today that is the Shivalinga at Gokarna. When Ravana came back after the worship, he found that the Shivalinga was lost. Then he tried to beat the child, but what to do? It was too late. So he couldn’t take the Shivalinga to Lanka.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a story and the point we were discussing is that some of the chants do not have another version or duplicate. You can’t – you can even make it in that meter in that rhythm.

It’s amazing. I don’t know the full lyrics. I used to know them, but what happened is when I chant, something happens outside. (Laughter) So I stop chanting. It creates that frequency, the vibration and immediately after having started, it gets reflected. Thus I don’t chant fully, just a couple of words. (Laughter)

Q: When you spoke yesterday about this story now, you mentioned the lineage karma aspect and also that it can cure skin conditions. I was wondering if you can expand on this a little bit.

Mohanji: Yeah. Naga – it is connected to lineage, lineage karma, usually children and family relationships. You can see that many of the Naga related things are connected to family.

Secondly, many of the skin allergies and those kind of thing, go away when you appease the Naga. Usually milk and turmeric is offered. And traditionally there is no daily puja for Naga. It’s one pooja per year. Then I think, you just light the lamp, that’s what they do. And the day before yesterday was the most auspicious day of the year for the Naga Prathishta. And we did that on that day, Nagapanchami. It was not known I mean, we didn’t know that, right? Not even planned but apparently it happened. In India, there are places where they take the mud from the anthill, which is connected to Naga and they apply it on the skin etc. to work on your skin allergies.

Thirdly, it is knowledge. I think the explanation of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and the dimensions of human existence to a great extent was probably delivered by Nagas from the Nagaloka. They still visit us. Usually it is said that they are golden – they’ll be like golden snakes, snakes in golden color. And they appear and disappear. They do come. But they come to bless. They are very kind people, they come, THEY BLESS and then they disappear. There are a lot of temples, especially in the south, which are particularly important for snakes.

There’s nothing much to explain about skin disease as such, because it’s connected to mind and mind connected to guilt. Guilt – mind – skin disease, this is the connection. That’s a cycle. The guilt connected to our actions, e.g. you do bad to people, or talk bad, things like that. Or if there are people killing snakes, etc. That destruction, that destruction, talking bad, bad expressions, those kinds of things will lead to guilt. If you talk bad about somebody, your mind gets polluted first, before it pollutes the outside world. Those kinds of things affect the mind. The mind is like a reflector. The mind reflects what you are. That automatically affects the blood flow and the skin. This is the cycle, and snake represents that. Because snake sheds skin, right? So that’s it.

Q: Some people suggest that in 2026 that apparently Prema Sai will reveal? Do you know anything about it?

Mohanji: I don’t know anything about it. Even if I do know, I don’t talk about it. Because any incarnation which has to glow like a sun will happen. Why are we in a hurry?

The thing is that our mind likes to go to the future too much and ignores the present. I also do not endorse any of my past lives – people have written about my past lives. I never endorse that because it doesn’t matter to me. What I was in a past life has no value, because this is my life now. I will die as Mohanji. So if I can’t do anything with this body in this life, there’s no use. Likewise, there are great incarnations right now, and there will be incarnations in the future, for one reason – Dharma, preservation of Dharma. So for that matter, it will come and we have seen that with Sathya Sai Baba. Baba has been powerful, very, very powerful. And also, I don’t believe that that such beings ever leave. Because as I explained yesterday, when you conglomerate and become one unit, then there is nothing to leave. Because from that position, you can only expand. While living itself, they expand. What are the signs? They appear in places. They do so many things. That means they are operating from an expanded consciousness.

What happens at the time of samadhi? The body is left but as a point of contact. Typical example is Shirdi Sai Baba. He left his body a hundred years ago. Today, you see how many people visit Shirdi, millions. And they all get results. People go to Sathya Sai samadhi and get results. But then we can’t really contain that aspect, it means Baba is everywhere. But we still like to go to places where Baba used to be. I’m not against it. I’m not even saying this is right or wrong. I’m nobody to say that. But the human mind is such that you know, you go. Somebody asked me if this was right? I said that if good things are happening, everything is right. If good things are not happening, everything is wrong. If it is something positive, regenerative and kind, it’s good. Whoever does it, it doesn’t matter who. Anybody doing it, is good. So I’m not against it. But I’m talking only about that human mind, we do everything to keep the mind alive. And in all philosophies, we say dissolve the mind, only then you start connecting to the absolute truth. With the mind you can only understand the relative truth. You and me. Because you sit there, that is a separation but consciousness-wise, you and I have no separation. To see that consciousness, the ether that connects us, you have to go beyond your mind. But when you’re chasing all these things, like people, personalities… like I’ll tell you, when after I die, if a lot of people sit and cry, I will feel miserable. You know why? It will mean they have not understood my teachings. You know that this incarnation that I have taken is for a particular reason.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Each of us, everybody, has taken this incarnation for some reason. And once this is done, we leave the body, there’s no tragedy about it. It’s like we have taken a car for a purpose. Once the purpose is done, we give the car back. Naturally, if you say that you won’t give the car back, the car’s owner will catch you. Or you rent a house. You say, “I like this house, I’m not going.” We often see that happening. Right? Then it’s a legal case. Because the owner will say, “I want the house” and you will say, “I won’t give it to you”. So it doesn’t work in real terms.

We will all leave the body and it is not a problem. It shouldn’t be a problem.

And incarnations I mean, avatars. Avatars do happen, they must happen. Why? Because of preservation of Dharma. Only one cause. Krishna came for that. Rama came for that. Everybody came for that. And they went through the rigors of it. And when did we recognize them? Usually after their death. While living we can’t see them, because they have a form. They have expressions, so they say, “I have expression, I have a form, I’m the same as him.” But after they leave and continue to work, then we realize that this was an avatar. For example Shirdi Sai Baba. There are so many possibilities. Dattatreya has taken many avatars, Sripada Srivallabha, Narasimha Saraswathi, Akkalkot Swami, Manik Prabhu. You know, Shirdi Sai Baba, Tembe Swami – they are all Datta Avatars. He keeps coming back time and again, in various bodies for the purpose of preservation of Dharma, but Datta remains the same. He is still powerful, he is active. That’s the point. Each incarnation, especially a powerful incarnation is only for the purpose of giving you a point of contact, an image to connect, so that you could plug in, and so you could integrate, that’s the only reason. So if another Avatar comes, people will connect to that avatar. There’ll be many avatars at the same time. Datta has also had many avatars. Akkalkot Swami and Shirdi Sai Baba lived at the same time. Akkalkot Swami was slightly older, and when Akkalkot Swami left his body, part of his soul went and merged into the tree and part of the soul went and merged with Shirdi Sai Baba. Afterwards, when Akkalkot Swami’s disciples were coming to Akkalkot Swami’s samadhi, he said, “I live in Shirdi, go there.” They went, looked at Baba, and they saw Swami.

So what is all this drama? I’m not discouraging or encouraging. My point is that do not ever get deluded by external forms, including this form. I will leave the body at some point in time. I’m here only for a certain purpose. So all these forms have a purpose, and we will just do our job, and we will vanish. That’s about it. So there’s nothing greater or nothing lesser than anything in this. What do you want? What do you have to do? You have to dissolve your mind as much as possible and become empty. And then God fills it. See, this book I’m talking about that I’m writing now,  Silence of Shiva, is finished already. The first part in it is Brahmacharya. In that part, the only thing that guru was teaching the disciple was to empty, unlearn and delete. And then he made the disciple to empty completely. Then the guru just filled in and left. So that’s it, there’s nothing to tell this disciple, because he was already that. There’s nothing to give from guru, all the guru did was hold the hands, held them, and delete, and delete, and delete, and delete, and finally you became empty, God filled in, then you are everything.

That is what we were explaining in the morning. The human form is not all human. We have a form but we are not really human always, not these people, but another people. So to be human is to have the ability to share, live together, conglomerate. But when you become a saint-human, you need to have the perfect awareness that you belong to nothing, nothing belongs to you. That awareness should be clear. It means I own nothing, and nobody owns me. It should stabilize, when that understanding stabilizes then you’re a saint-human. Nobody belongs to anybody. Nothing belongs to you, nor do you belong to anybody. You’re everybody’s everything. Then you become a God-human. That state is when you know or you experience, that you are everything, that there’s nothing apart from you, you are stabilized already. So these are the states. Being human is a state where you’re able to share, you’re able to love, you can express even some kind of unconditional love. That’s about it. Then you have to progress to a saint-human, where you’re clear. Clear means absolutely clear with conviction, that nobody can own you, nor can you own anything. That nothing can own you, means the possessions, places, time, people nothing owns you. Neither do you own anything. So that stabilizes, and then you progress towards becoming God-human. That’s the state when you absolutely know, and experience every moment that you are everything. Every being around is you, all your reflection. At that time, you will actually feel the heartbeat of every leaf, every cell, this is a state of that level. This is the progression.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So in this, why are we chasing human incarnations? Just to understand the state. I am not Mohanji, I’m the state called Mohanji. If that is not understood, then there is no point. You can recognize my image, but what is that? Okay, good to know people. But apart from that, what does this image mean? Unless this is translated into a state – okay, this is Mohanji, just a state. And that’s a state I’m connecting to, or I’m aspiring to. Good enough, then we have a clear roadmap. That’s why I’m saying when we chase gurus, I always wonder why you’re chasing. Gurus run away. And we chase them. (Laughter) That’s the fundamental non-understanding, right? Because the mind loves activity. And the mind wants activity, the mind clings to activity. That mind survives, you don’t survive. This is the mind’s game. The mind is playing the game to keep you in activity.

Q: I was wondering, what I can do when I get angry? Do you ever get angry?

(Laughter)

Mohanji: I think we are all a mixture, right? We have everything. And anger is one of your expressions. Anger is not you anyway. And you’re not angry all the time. Whatever is not permanent, is not you completely. That’s part of you. We all have anger, we all have everything the world has. So let us say that we are fine with everything.

First and foremost, the anger aspect is sustained because we tend to fight it, “I shouldn’t be angry.” So it stays. Because whenever you resist something, it persists. It stays on. Whenever you attend to something or whichever seed you pour water on, it grows. Sometimes you don’t pour water on some seeds, you don’t even know there is a seed like that, we don’t nurture it, then it doesn’t grow. But sometimes we pour water on something without knowing like, “I’m aware that I’m angry,” even though it is only one aspect of your total existence, that’s the aspect which bothers you. So you become more and more aware of it, and in turn you energize it more. Anger becomes happy, meaning the aspect of the mind which entertains anger, becomes happy. And anger has always a root: expectation. Expectation is the root of anger. You look at: it doesn’t happen by itself. There is a residual anger. Residual anger is that somebody talked bad to me. So whenever I see that person, I tend to become angry. That is because I have a memory connected to the person and his potential, or his past response. Apart from that, the usual anger is from expectations. You know, if I expect something from you and you don’t deliver it, I become angry. For example, sometimes we expect things from the government and government behaves in a different way due to whatever reason, then we become very upset, angry. All this situational stuff means there is an external factor which is causing this internal situation. If you’re able to see through these two, the intensity of anger goes down.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And don’t take anger as an isolated state. It’s just one of your states. This is part of you. Anger is one of your children – okay, you’re also sitting with me. So no problem, you come to terms with it, first of all. And then once you are not against it, it loses its impact. Every emotion, whatever you suppress, or whatever you fight, stays longer. Whatever you allow naturally to flow, it comes and goes. And later on, what happens is that when anger happens, you will express it, but you will not feel it. It means you will express it in an angry way. If you don’t do this, I will do this. But inside, you’re still peaceful, because you’re coming to terms with it. So, every particle called you should be accepted fully as part of your incarnation; nothing is right, and nothing is wrong.

There’s nothing right or wrong in the karmic world. What is wrong is something which binds you further to Earth, and then it is not good for you. Because it creates more of such events. For example, you did something very harmful for the world or to the people. And then a group of people’s energy gets bound to that activity. So, you’re creating a trend there for example, for destruction of some kind – you can see that in the society. People plant bombs and blow them up that kill people and destroy families. All these things leave a mark in this whole life. It’s difficult to get redemption and come out of it. Therefore I would say that you should not enter into any violence in thoughts, words and action. But we must just allow all the other things which are happening within to happen at the same time. We must understand that that’s not us completely. That’s part of us. And that’s okay.

Q: Yeah, no, it just seems so anti-social. Right. (Laughter)  And it seems like there’s acceptable anger (Laughter) and there’s unacceptable anger, things like bombs. So I didn’t know if there’s a meditation or something that you can recommend.

Mohanji: Yeah, it needs to be handled practically by serving the most underprivileged. You know, when you feel agitated and angry with something, go out and serve the most underprivileged, the ones suffering the most. It will get washed away. That’s the best meditation. By sitting in meditation you will only be thinking about anger. That will reinforce it. Instead, go out and you help the poorest, the most underprivileged. Immediately the love will overwhelm you and your anger will be washed away. The antidote to anger is love. Practical. Not theoretical.

Speaker: Thank you.

Q: We are talking about being human and being god-human

Mohanji: Saint-human is the second one.

Q: So, the shift in that consciousness, is that a natural process? Or is there something you can do to make happen, or…?

Mohanji: No, I just told you about the roadmap. This is normal evolutionary process. They say that, in evolutionary beings, that means, beings taking birth and evolving to a level of human, to do that it takes thousands of lifetimes literally to become, or to get a human body, human form. The advantage of the human form is the ability to understand the absolute truth instead of the relative truth. The relative truth is always the truth based on a situation or a person.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One example of relative truth is to imagine that three people are standing here, one person is five-foot, one person six-foot and one person seven. The five-foot person will say, “These two people are taller than me.” And the six-foot person will say, “This guy is taller than me.” So, each person is right. Or one guy will say, “This guy is shorter than me.” Each person is right in their own way, but it is a relative truth. Nobody is absolutely tall nor absolutely short. Absolute truth means it cannot change through time. That’s absolute truth.

With the human consciousness, you have the potential to touch that absolute truth. That is the advantage of human existence. However, most people do not know it because we are coming out of the relative truth level and we are coming up very very slowly . We’re surfacing to the top. So this relative truth is kind of a habitual thing for us – we know it already, because all of our lives we have experienced it.

It is said that once you take a human body for the first time (raw human), then it takes about 5,000 lifetimes before you become human-human. Approximately that is all, nobody has counted (laughter) but approximately 5,000 lifetimes before you become a human-human. Then it takes about another 700 lifetimes from a human level to become a saint human  or somebody who is completely aware that nothing belongs to me nor I belong to anything. Then it takes about 70 lifetimes more before you become a god-human who knows “I’m everything – Aham Brahmasmi, I am God, I am everything.” This is the usual process they say. Thus this is spontaneous evolution.

And where is the problem then? How do you regress? This is the usual progress and if you’re leading a normal life, slowly, slowly you’re progressing this way. But then when does the regression happen in this? When you do unkind acts, when you talk bad, do bad things, etc. Then the frequency goes down, frequencies reduce. When frequency is reduced, you take birth in that level next time. That’s why the proximity to masters is always respected in that order. Because when you are deeply integrated with a powerful Master, the deviation will be less. The chance to fall will be less since you will be integrated with the consciousness all the time. So, your focus is clear and then at least from that level you can take off. And the job of a Master is only to take you until your mind is dissolved, to Nirvichara or no-thought state. That’s a state when you become a Master. Then there’s no coming back. So there’s no return. So, this is the usual way. Roadmap.

Q: On the roadmap, what challenges could you expect to face and how could they be overcome?

Mohanji: Challenges are two ways: one is external from people, from situations, from expectations, all those things. Internal are your concepts, phobias, your fears and those kinds of things. These two are enemies, both are enemies on the path. I told you earlier in the program, one friend gifted another friend a lamb… Do I have to repeat the story?

Audience: Yes… (Laughter)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A Story of Two Friends and a Lamb

Mohanji: It’s a fable. Everybody knows this fable. One guy gave a lamb to a friend saying, “This will be useful to you,” with kindness, and a lot of love. And he was taking this lamb home. Four thieves saw this and decided they should have this lamb. They spoke between themselves and said, “We will get this lamb.”

One guy asked, “How do you get it? We will steal?”

“No, he will leave the lamb. We will make him drop the lamb and go. So, we can pick it up.”

Then they worked out a plan. Four of them sat on the way and one guy asked, “Where are you taking this dog?”

The man said, “This is not a dog, this is a lamb. Can’t you see?”

One of the thieves replied, “To me it looks like a dog. Maybe it’s a lamb, but I don’t know, it looks like a dog to me.”

And then things started happening in the man’s mind already. He walked further, when another guy asked, “Oh, nice dog where did you get this, where did you buy it?”

He said, “It’s not a dog. It’s a lamb! Can’t you see?”

The thief replied, “I thought it’s a dog.”

After the second guy, the man’s mind already started to work wonders. Next the third guy said the same thing, “Amazing dog, would you like to sell it?” (Laughter).

The man thought, “What’s wrong with all these people!? Either I am blind or everybody is blind!”

However, by then his mind was already saying that this friend of his had cheated him, saying it was a lamb, “I don’t know how I got fooled. Maybe at that time, I didn’t look.” And he was looking and it looked like a lamb. (Laughter)

Then the fourth guy said, “Oh, amazing dog!” (Group laughter)

He dropped the lamb, cursed the friend, and walked away. He said, “I will not meet this guy again.”

This happens in our spiritual pursuit. We would probably have a lamb in our hand but when the fourth person says that’s not the right practice, that’s not the right Guru, he is a very bad Guru or it’s a very bad practice, a very bad tradition, we will change our mind. This is one of the most detrimental things in the spiritual path. We go after popular masters, popular time-tested things, but we forget one thing: by birth, you are unique, you are authentic, you are original. So how can there be a general medicine? Something which suits you is what you should follow.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

How do you know what suits you?

Something which you can do without effort, that is your benchmark. Some activity which is natural for you to perform. Something which is forced, compelled, or it’s a pressure for you to perform, is not yours. It’s not good for you. So one of the main problems in the spiritual journey is this trap. People say, “Are you sure this is what you want to do?” And even if we are progressing, we will think that is not true.

One example is people read a lot of books on Kundalini awakening. (Laughter) And they are all crazy about Kundalini. You know Kundalini awakening is ecstasy. But because all these concepts are filled into the mind, the whole thing gets distorted. And you know what? When you are not ready for the awakening of Kundalini, and you jump-started the kundalini shakti energy, this three and a half coiled serpent (that’s also one of the aspects of serpent) progresses to the top which is its natural expression. To meet Shiva. Shakti’s natural seat is with Shiva. Whether you like it or not, Kundalini will rise. When will it rise? When your karmic weight is less. That is why we are doing pilgrimages, we’re going to Kailash.  We’re going to various places so that our karmic weight is dropped, reduced. Because our karmic weight is not just our weight, it comes from the lineage also. So we go to places, we do worship… Why are we doing all these pujas, all these things here? To wash and wash and wash, clean and reduce the weight. So when that happens after a lot of effort, it automatically rises.

But when we jumpstart it, what happens is it either goes to the moon or to the sun side. If it goes to the moon side (through Ida), there is depression, tamas, anger, etc. If it goes to the sun side (through Pingala), there is madness, hyperactivity, restlessness, etc.

Therefore, it has to rise beautifully, peacefully and when you stabilize, for which you need to give it time, you need to reduce the karmic weight, you should be deeply integrated into a good master, a stable master – somebody who has stabilized. Then it becomes the master’s job to take you there.

Thus it’s not possible to read the books and do all these things. We must understand. So much of information congestion is not good. It means you eat a lot of knowledge. Mind gets clogged. It really affects you because you are filled with concepts and undigested food. And indigestion happens with undigested food. Just like when you overeat and can’t sleep well. The same thing here.

One is people’s opinions.

When I was practicing for four or five years, even when I met Devi, I never told her what I was practicing, she did not even know that I was doing some practice. I never used to tell people, it used to be my private space. I used to meditate, I used to do my stuff from 3am to 8am. My practice was very simple: connecting to the spine. Well, when I’m walking, I am feeling the spine, when I’m talking, I’m feeling the spine. Automatically your dimension changes when you’re connected to the spine. We are usually front oriented, right? That means all our senses are in the front and we tend to operate in the front. 120 degrees from ear to ear. But then the 240 degrees are missing. So when you’re always aware of the spine and you’re connecting to the spine, the breath becomes vertical, and your awareness becomes vertical. It just keeps going and then it stabilizes, so there’s nothing to tell people. If I had spoken to people, they would have given me 15 opinions or even a hundred opinions saying, “You should do it this way or you should do it that way.”

Now when I give something to people, I understand the person and give – I don’t give something just like that. So we tend to take something from other people and like the sheep became a dog in the story here, so many people make us dogs, even though we are a sheep, we wouldn’t know (laughter). And once you drop the sheep, then it takes time. So, people deviate from the path and they don’t know what to do. Being realistic is very important.

Furthermore, you should always look within and talk to yourself, “Is this comfortable for me? Is it making me fine and stable? It’s okay.” If it is not making you fine and stable, then drop it. Don’t say it’s okay. Moreover, understand that we are all individuals and we have to go through the processes.

Like I was talking today. I was discussing with Swami Surya about the programs here. Very systematic programs. I asked, “Why did Guru Subramanian create this program this way?” The main purpose is concentration, you are all concentrated, focused, focused, focused on one thing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

What happens when you focus, concentrate on one thing?

That energy becomes you or you connect to that energy consistently. In usual life we don’t do that right? Here one by one, there is no time to think or there is no time to reflect. Just keep doing. So, Mahavatar Babaji has said the same thing, concentration has to be stabilized before you progress. It’s the same principle: you focus on one thing over and over and over and over, then it becomes… See, that’s when the mind gets beaten, the mind gets bored, “I’m bored. Are you doing the same thing? Why can’t you do something else?” Once you cross over the tedium, then the mind starts dropping. That’s a technique in the Vedic tradition. You repeat it, repeat it , repeat it, and the mind gets dropped. Mind has to drop off, mind cannot be thrown away. Mind doesn’t go that way. So one of the methods is that you repeat it, repeat it, repeat it, the mind become really agitated, angry, it shouts at you, then it will walk out. That’s a technique.

Everything has a purpose.  When a Guru gives something, he gives with clear purpose, “This is what you should do.” And then the system is made in that way, that the people connected also come into focus, into one channel. Discipline is very, very important. When there is discipline, nobody can really take you for a ride. Nobody can push you from your path. Discipline is very important. And concentration is important. These two things are achieved with these activities of the day. We need to understand what makes it happen. Otherwise, it’s all people’s opinions and whose opinions? Opinions of minds that have not found the truth. This is the beauty of it. Most people who give opinions have no idea what they’re talking about. And those who really know will not talk. (Laughter). You see.

One benchmark, I will tell you: if somebody criticizes somebody, understand they are minds. That’s why when people criticize about somebody, I always tell them, “This is very precious information, you have worked hard to get it, keep it with you. Don’t give anything precious outside, I don’t want it. You know, I don’t take anything, anything precious from anybody, you would have worked hard to get this bad information about somebody? Why do I need it?” So, prevention is very important.

We should believe in ourselves. At the end of the day, it’s you, you and you, whether you are rising or you are falling. That is why if that factor is not understood, nobody else has any responsibility over it. Nobody else can. Because all are individuals that we can call husband, wife, son, father, mother, this is okay. That’s all in the social structure. But are you an individual or not? You are an individual, your growth is pertaining to you.

Q: You spoke about consuming knowledge, making sure it is not congestion. Yeah, I’m studying Sanskrit. And so, I’m consuming this type of knowledge. How do I make sure it doesn’t become purely congested?

Mohanji: If you are learning Sanskrit, Upanishads have clarified it very beautifully. They said what you can digest is good enough, that means when you consume something as a theory, it remains a theory. It’s good that you’re learning Sanskrit, because you can directly understand the mind or the expression of the people who uttered it or explained it. So that’s better, not an interpretation. That’s an advantage.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If you crush all the scriptures of Upanishads into one glass of juice, it’s called Tatvamasi. You are that. That’s what I was explaining. It’s you, you and you. So, every Upanishad that you put together says, “You are that” and then from there, this journey starts. The journey starts to find out “Who am I?”

Then we ask the questions:

Who am I?

What am I?

Why am I?

These questions are asked so that you start going within, these are the drills drilling the holes into ourselves. Then you start going within and realize,

Am I the mind?

Aadi Shankara said right:

Mano buddhyahankaara chittaani naaham

Na cha shotrajihve na cha ghraananetre

Na cha vyomabhoomir na tejo na vaayuh

Chidaananda roopah shivoham shivoham

That awareness is the final. That’s the end of the story. Starting with you are that. Gurus’ job is only that. Gurus say “Welcome” and “What is truth? You are that.” Gurus’ job is over. Then YOU have to find out, “Am I the mind? Am I the intellect? Am I the body? Am I the ego? Am I the Spirit? Am I the things which I am connected to? Am I the relationships I’m connected to?” All these questions, and then you come to a place where you start thinking “This is what I am.” That becomes your meditation. Wherever the mind stays longer, that is meditation. Not what you think meditation is. Mind establishes itself on something for some time. Right? That’s meditation. From point to point to point your meditation increases. Minds get stuck here for some time, then, “Oh no, this is not me,” mind goes elsewhere. This is in the beginning, then it all gets connected, “I am this, I am that and I am that further…” So, expansion starts. Like this, you progress. In that mode, whatever you have eaten will all dissolve. Only remember one thing, whatever you have consumed from outside, cannot stay inside. Either it goes out or it dissolves.

Whatever comes from inside, stays forever. So true knowledge is knowledge that happens from within. For that, you need to be totally empty, to unlearn. Until you reach there, you can use this knowledge. Until you reach yourself, use the knowledge. Once you reach yourself, you don’t need this knowledge. That’s why all practices, all knowledge and all Gurus are only until you become that – everything. That’s why I keep saying that I am not the ultimate, you are the ultimate. I have repeated many times, “If you like me or dislike me, there’s no problem. But if you don’t like yourself, there is a problem. If you hate me there’s no problem but if you hate yourself, there’s a problem.” So, integration is very important. Integration into yourself as a full incarnation. From there you start growing. Every practice is to reach a stage of no practice. Initially you need all this, all the practices, all the knowledge, but with a clear awareness that this is a boat to cross over. After you cross over, why would you need the boat? If you want to carry the boat, it is fine (laughter), but other people will have a problem.

In the name of the Lord?

Dear all,

While I was sitting with Mohanji today afternoon, I saw him checking posts on Facebook. Suddenly he came across a picture of a young boy sitting next to his mother, waiting for her to wake up. However, his mother was not sleeping. They were outside, in Gaza war. He didn’t understand his mother was dead. She won’t wake up ever again. Mohanji’s subtlety couldn’t ignore the suffering. He immediately surged into action. He started typing, and after five minutes his consciousness delivered this message.

Love,

Bilja

Image
Awareness is the key. An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind. These are not my words. This is a famous truth. There is no way we can buy justice through wars. One man’s gain is always another man’s loss. When will we understand that?

How many children became orphans in the last 7 days! How many children died! How many people lost everything? Who will answer? In the name of what is this? Land? Power? Politics? Supremacy? When will man understand? Gaza is burning. The world’s conscience is burning even if we try our best to ignore it.

Whether it be Gaza or any other country where beings are bound or murdered, conscience must get burnt.

Awareness is the key. An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind. These are not my words. This is a famous truth. There is no way we can buy justice through wars. One man’s gain is always another man’s loss. When will we understand that?

Our soul cannot be owned by any body. Likewise, earth cannot be owned by any being. It can only be used for a certain period of time. What is expected during this time, is peaceful co-existence.

Image
Earth cannot be owned by any being. It can only be used for a certain period of time. What is expected during this time, is peaceful co-existence.

Earth cannot be owned by any. Earth is just a platform. Temporary possessions gives illusion of ownership. Transactions in paper makes us feel proud and money’s worth. But, when we die, we leave the paper and the property behind. Who owns earth?

Who will answer for the deaths and destructions that takes place in the name of land, religion and politics? All people are the same. All countries are the same. None higher or lower. None have the right to oppress or suppress another. Life must continue. When we walk on the blood paved paths of existence, our feet must hurt. Tons of accumulated atrocities and murders have weakened the natural vibration of earth and make it lesser and lesser habitable.

When emotions are ruling, wars are inevitable. Expect the backlash. Hit on conscience causes guilt. Guilt travels through time and lives. When collective guilt takes over, destruction takes place. We may fall lucky to shed the body earlier than the backlash to express itself fully. But, we may either come back or our own generations to come will curse the generations past for taking the soul out of earth, for killing the “life” of earth. None can escape the fruits of his action. This is an eternal truth. To keep a blind eye towards a crime is equal to committing it.

Image
When emotions are ruling, wars are inevitable.

We are too selfish. We only like to sit back in the virtual world and watch the pictures of dead women and children on the facebook and hit “like” in support of the cause, irrespective of whether it is towards or against. We live in the artificial world of make believe and cheat ourselves in believing that everything is good outside there and inside within our own household. The children brought up completely in the virtual world are total misfits in the world outside. Everything happens for them in the virtual world and they cannot care less for other people’s suffering. We never consider even once that inertia has indeed left us totally bound and helpless. The only part of the body that actually moves are the fingers which click “like” on Facebook.

Now, I know that even these words here are useless, I know, because it is not possible for individual consciousness to fight against the gross and ugly collective consciousness hell bound for destruction and death. Useless because the comfort zone oriented man will just discard positive words as tall order and discard any potential for collective action. I know very well that even if a 1000 of us join hands against human atrocities, we will all be crushed mercilessly. The only permanent solution is increased awareness and different system of education.

Motherhood should happen in a more profound way. No mother will order the killing of any children. It has always been man. Love should prevail through motherliness.

Image
Motherhood should happen in a more profound way. No mother will order the killing of any children. It has always been man. Love should prevail through motherliness.

Now, this mail is meant as food for thought. I am with the suffering and helpless. I love those who even help heal a small wound of the body or mind.

I am always hoping for Peace to prevail. Again, collective consciousness is too strong to grow any seeds of sensitiveness. Yet, let us not give up hope. Let us grow seeds in our own garden and distribute selflessly to other’s garden, too.

I love you unconditionally

Love

The Naked Truth

Dear All,
Mohanji receives many questions. Questions arise from one’s mind because it is the mind that is suffering in various situations and incidences.  Here are some straight answers by Mohanji to some commonly asked questions.
Love and regards,
BTW Family

My Beloved embodiments of pure love,

Our relationship is not accidental. We have been connected from life times and will continue through time as well. So, the familiarity that some of you are experiencing today has deeper roots than your limited mind can percieve. So, please do not mind if what is given below is a bit too informal and straight. I know this will provoke some thoughts in you. This is extracted out of some of the regular questions that I handle everyday. Remember, I love YOU. 🙂

Q: Relationship with—————— is not working. (Husband, Wife, Son, Daughter, Neighbor, Boss)
A: Is your relationship with yourself working? Sort that out and all the external relationships will work. Connect to yourself first. This yourself is not what you see in the mirror. It is the formless that keeps what you see in the mirror alive. Connect to that formless within you and everything else will work.

Q: What next?
A: It is up to you. Destiny is your creation. You can make it a beautiful garden or a clutter of weeds.

Q: I am confused!
A: You are not confused. Your mind is. Understand the mind and detach from it. Let it be confused, but you are not your mind. Be what you really are and there is no confusion.

Q: What is the reason for excessive stress in life?
A: Ownership and do-ership. Non-understanding or no realisation that “everything passes away”, both situations and people. When this understanding takes deep roots in one’s mind, life becomes an every moment game and each moment would be pleasurable and stress free.

Q: Many paths, which one to choose.
A: Simple. The path that is in front of you. You cannot actually choose anything else (any other path)

Q: Many Gurus. Which one is MY Guru?
A: None of them. Your Guru is your own soul. All else are reminders. Nothing that lies outside of you really belongs to you.

Q: Why are there differences?
A: There are no differences. It is only a distortion that the mind creates. Everything is one. Just different forms. Mind creates differences. You are not the mind.

Q: I am worried.
A: Mind is worried. You are not the mind.

Understand the mind and detach

Q: Can you help me?

A: Do you really need help? You are all powerful. If you feel otherwise, hold on to me until you find yourself. I will help you. You need the crutches only until your own legs become strong enough to carry you.

Q: I have faith.
A: Do you? Is it conditional or unconditional? Think again. Do you really have FAITH? How much faith? The word faith has become a cliche’. Faith is not just a word. It is a state, a perpetual state. Most of those who say “I have faith”, doubt themselves and certainly even their faith. And their faith is often conditional and sways with others interference, opinions and words. They need to work harder to achieve a total state of absolute faith.

Q: I surrender
A: Do not decieve yourself. Surrender means leaving out whatever you surrender completely from your system. Do you do that? Total surrender needs absolute faith. Complete surrender is a complete state of annihilation of a certain aspect of you. It is a state of dissolution. You are removing something you do not need in your constitution. Karma gets trashed. Think again, when you use such words. Do not deceive yourself.

Q: Whom should I trust?
A: Yourself.

Q: I Love You.
A: Do you? You should love yourself first. Love your family. Love your neighbors, friends, colleagues. I am total. When you love totality, when you become unconditional love, you do love me. If you think I am this form, this is non-understanding. When you hate someone, you do not love me. Loving me means loving the universe. Loving me means loving unconditionally. When you see me in every being, you DO love me. You will feel my love too. I love you through all beings.

Treading the path of faith and surrender

Q: Sometimes I feel disconnected.

A: You are never disconnected from me. Your mind is. You are not your mind.

Q: I want to be always with you.
A: Being with my physical body will never ensure proximity to me. If you are one with my consciousness, you are always with me and totally as well as completely connected with me. This is more permanant as well. Do not have the misunderstanding that those who are physically close to me are actually “close” to me. Some of you who are far away physically from me are more close to me (through unity of consciousness) than those who are physically near me. So, the desire for being with me should not be being physically with me. And many of you will not be able to handle my physical proximity because chances for disillusionment is very high. Read the blog “Living with a saint”.  I may kick your ego from time to time. I will tell you things that you may not like to hear, with the intention of shaking you up and liberating you from some samskaric bindings. You may not like it. So, beware. When you have tremendous maturity to handle whatever is given, you will automatically reach me. This is for sure. Otherwise, it is just infatuation. It has no spiritual value. Being in physical proximity, and at the same time being totally ego-less and in complete surrender, like Shama or Mhalsapati to Shirdi Sai Bhagawan is a real grace and blessing. Then the disciple and the Guru are one, though in separate bodies. This is possible and achievable, if you have consistancy in effort and total determination and a will for the annihilation of individual ego.

Q: How can I ensure my spiritual progress?
A: Strive to be always in 360 degree awareness. Watch your limited mind and ego. Be always detached from them. Be steadfast in your devotion as well as conviction. Do not only listen to others. Listen to your own soul and understand your own experiences. Understand and grow into yourself. Grow within. Be rich within. All external expressions should be expressions of your inner richness and not your limited mind. As Gandhiji said “Be the change that you want to see in the world outside.”. Be Unconditional Love.

Be always in 360 degree awareness. Be unconditional love!

Q: How can I see you in your real form?

A: See you in your real form. You will see me.

Q: Where is Good and Bad?
A: In your mind. It starts in your mind and ends in your mind.

Q: I cannot sleep.
A: Good. Practice awareness. It is better than sleep.

Q: How do I know you?
A: Know yourself, you will know me. What your mind says, is not me. What your soul says, is me.

Q: Who is a real saint?
A: One who has nothing to do with earth and knows it well, while being here.

Q: Even if I have one desire?
A: You will stay here.

Q: Aum Poornamada Poornamidam…. what can we equate this with for easy understanding’s sake? (question from a school teacher to explain to her students)
A: To a lamp. It never sheds its shine, brightness, even if a thousand lamps are lit from one. Everything is complete. Only completeness exists. Mind does not understand it, soul does.

Q: Why we wander?
A: Becuase you follow the mind. Mind always remains dissatisfied. It drags the body along. It delivers fears and alienations. It keeps you running for one thing or the other, through disillusionment and non-understanding.

Q: When ego takes over?
A: Men perish.

Q:Spiritual evolution is inevitable or guaranteed in each lifetime?
A: Depends on one’s karmic baggage.

Q: Is spiritual inheritance possible?
A: Yes.

Q: What is our hope for tomorrow?
A: Today

Q: Am I really alive or am I dreaming?
A: It depends on which level you are operating from. “Wake Up”, you will know.

Spirituality is awareness

Q: I believed spiritual masters are invincible. (Discussion point about fall in spirituality)
A: No. On the contrary, they are more vulnerable than others. When existence shifts to unconditional love, they trust everyone. This could be quite detrimental at times. It is hard to climb the ladder, easy to fall.

Q: Can an evolved being fall?
A: Depends on how he manages his ego and mind. If mind controls him, even duality of existence will pull him down. Unity cannot be percieved by mind. It is beyond the mind. To exist in unity, one should cross the boundaries of mind and ego.

Q: Man’s quest for knowledge
A: Waste of time, unless it helps his shedding.

Q: What is worth pursuing?
A: Silence.

Q: What is worth investing in?
A: Awareness

Q: Siddhis?
A: Candies.

Q: Why?
A: It wastes time. It maintains duality. It could nurture stronger ego. It forces detours. It alienates man from unity.

Q: Ultimate destination of man?
A: Narayana, the destination of man.

Q: Is it Lord Vishnu?
A: Parabrahma, the supreme formless GOD. The one who Generates, Operates and Dissolves. All forms are formed out of Him and dissolves in Him.

Q: Why do we visit holy places?
A: Urge to bathe in higher energies.

Q: What do we carry from there?
A: Depends on your stature. The ideal is to carry higher awareness, silence of mind, if you could. Usually, you only carry some photographs of your own form against some divine backdrop! This only tells you that you were indeed there and makes you feel worth the money well spent. Ability to experience gets enhanced with surrender and silence. Silence brings you more awareness than any book-knowledge. Expectation kills the fragrance of every experience.

Q: Why cannot everyone experience the same thing?
A: Each one experiences only as per each one’s capacity, stature and constitution. Each according to his ability, each according to his eligibility. There is no point in comparing. Comparisons means non-understanding.

Q: Where do you really exist? In which realm?
A: In your heart. In the realm of your consciousness. I have no other existence.

We will talk again.
Love You Always
M

Q&A in Munich – Easter 2011

Mohanji & the majestic Alps (and one of the beautiful Bavarian mountain lakes)

Dear Friends

Please find below the transcription of the two very intense Q&A sessions we had here in Munich with Mohanji over the past couple of days. Almost exactly one year after he conducted the first ever BTW session in Germany.

To top the great surprise of his short notice visit to Germany: he came during this central and important time of the Christian liturgical year: Good Friday (crucifixion of Jesus) until Easter Sunday (resurrection).

During the two sessions, Mohanji spoke with tremendous clarity and power. All interwoven with wit and love, naturally. The BTW meditations and Shaktipat were very intense and transforming. After the first evening Mohanji said: “I gave all today, if the same people come tomorrow, what should I give them?” Of course I knew what he meant, that there is only so much a meditator can absorb and take on board. At the same time I felt though, that the people could possibly be quite capable of churning fast. And also the second evening was indeed wonderful. With even more openness from the meditators. I had the impression that after the previous evening their system was already vibrating higher. Just remembering the group’s humming breath during Pranayama before we started the meditation the second evening: it was one single sound – a beautifully strong, dense, highly vibrant and elevating unity. The second evening began with the Q&A session, followed by the meditation. After the meeting with Mohanji was over, people continued talking to him in the hallway and then even in the street, until ultimately the group dissolved and everybody went their way.

Please take the time to read the following text until the end. What you will find in these lines below is truly essential and of  immense value. Mohanji gives clarity on topics such as:

• detachment & reduction of unnecessary baggage
• beating inertia/tamas
• the spine as THE key for spiritual evolution
• successful relationships
• the shift and 2012
• colour phenomena during meditation
• spiritual cleansing in dream state
• Easter & how to connect to Jesus’ consciousness
• the spine-heart connection
• addictions
• liberation

First comments and feedback:
• Dear Marina, Thank you, thank you so much, it was so wonderful, I am infinitely grateful to the universe to have met Mohanji and you in my life. I am lucky . (…) I cannot find the words to tell you thank you for having organised this meeting and having made it happen. It was a great moment for me full of emotions and gratitude. Have a very nice Easter Monday.
• Hi Marina, Thanks so very much for all the help and guidance extended for my daughter for attending BTW. Finally she did attend and met Mohanji as well… all thanks to you. She just called me from Munich and told me all about BTW. She is so happy to experience every thing with Mohanji and so impressed with every thing. Her faith in him has increased all the more and his view point. She is so Happy to meet him and also to attend this special BTW with Para Brahma and of course you as well. Thanks once again for making her attend this BTW possible. LOVE, LIGHT & HAPPINESS in Abundance.

Sending love and light. May you benefit from this blog post.

And I have to add: the simplicity of our path and Mohanji’s distinct approachability easily belie the deep transformational power, the rich tradition behind it and the individual tenacity required. May people feel and see the truth, with the whole of their being.

Happy Easter.

Marina

Satsang with Mohanji in Munich – intense & intimate like a private audience – with guests from Berlin, Luxembourg and even Delhi

Q&A with Mohanji, Good Friday 22 April (after meditation):

Q: Can you explain the background music – the sound of water and the reoccurring wave-like music?

M: Interesting question. In three years nobody has ever asked that question. Nobody thought about this. It is an old friend’s composition. Our constitution is always peaceful. The mind is like a wave – and the music is exactly like that. The music is teasing in that way. But it is not contradictory, it is complementary to the programme.

Q: Is there an energy difference whether I sit on the floor or on a chair during the meditation?

M: In our meditation the most important thing is that you should be comfortable and able to sit without moving for an hour. This is a cleansing meditation. When things are moving out of your system the mind tries to manipulate the body in a way that you want to move, shift, or do something.

Your body, inside, is like a house that is dirty. I have found this in almost everybody, because we are not only carrying the baggage of our life, but also that of our family tradition and that of our country. This is also the reason why we sometimes do not understand why certain things are happening to us. If you look at your own past, it is easy to understand. But what about your environment and the conditionings around you? An example: you read today’s newspaper, some information caught your emotion and you got attached to it. This experience sticks as memory to you. Similar to a computer, sometimes if there is too much data, the computer crashes. Like that, we also sometimes go through those crashes.

I just had several big group sessions in Serbia and I have seen again how most people try to analyze their experiences. Once we stop analysing, we are free. To analyse, we use our intellect and we continue churning the experiences. When we drop this and just accept the experience we are liberated.

What we are here for is liberation, reducing the baggage. We are all carrying excess baggage, this is why we cannot enjoy every situation, we are not in the present.

Q: How do we get rid of the baggage?

M: I will tell you. First, you have to start today. You cannot move back into your past. Today you can choose to be in the present, consciously and  be with every thought. Let the mind be present with your thoughts. How do we do that? Imagine you have – let’s say – four or five children and some are very naughty. And you are just like a loving mother watching them play. Let them play. Our thoughts are like our children. Just watch them play, just observe, without doing anything. No scolding. No criticising, no judging, no censoring. Then you will be fine with your thought process. When you do that for one hour every day, play with your children, then you will be in the present with your thoughts.

You don’t know what I am going to say next, right? Likewise you do not know what you are going to think next. It is only after the thought is born, that you understand it. You have better control over your words. Before you talk or while you talk you can be with your words. Likewise with action: you have control over your actions. So on three levels of creation you can work on – thought, word and action. And on those three levels you are accumulating something. Again it’s like with your computer and the internet: thinking is like surfing the internet, one thing leads to another, one site leads to another and so on. Next is words, here you are actually doing something, you’re talking. But when your mind is present with every word, then there is no guilt about the past or anxiety for the future, you’re in control of the words. Then there is action. We have many thoughts, lesser words, and still lesser actions!

Now, how do you detach from all that? If there are no emotions with any thoughts, words or actions, you are on the path of liberation, because emotions are the glue that attach every word, every thought and every action to your system.

When the mind is with the past it is very difficult not to have any emotions. For example you saw a beautiful car and you wanted to buy it. You went home, checked your bank balance and found out the money you have is just not enough to buy it. But the mind is not happy until you buy that car. Then, after you bought the car, your mind actually does not care anymore. Then the mind wants a better car. But until you bought that car, that’s the most important thing. That’s how our mind operates, it can never be satisfied.

What you can do is, watch the mind like a mother and watch how it operates. Have you seen naughty children and how they play? You just stand there, watch them and slowly they will start becoming conscious of you watching them. No need to tell them anything. When you are just looking, they will come and start giving you excuses. They will stop by themselves, we don’t have to tell them anything. Watching and observing is much more powerful than talking. This is one way of detachment. The best way of detachment is meditation, meditating on your own thoughts and mind.

Now imagine a small window and thousands of people want to go through that window to the other side. Everybody is pushing and fighting as only two or three people at a time fit through that window. Our thoughts are like that. Now, when you start observing this like a policeman, they will stop fighting and stand in line. Likewise when you start observing your thoughts, the intensity of your thought movements will reduce. Slowly gaps will open up between the thoughts. And over a period of time the gaps between the thoughts will increase. What will be in this gap? Silence. Nothing else but silence. When you do this continuously, you will not fear silence anymore. You will fall in love with silence. The pressure of thoughts has gone and the space is filled with silence. So where is the baggage? There is emptiness. A beautiful feeling. Bliss!!! You don’t have to do anything else.

What are we doing every day? Look at the world out there. People are trying to fill their inner space with activities. They are afraid of any vacuum. They go from one pub to another or do one action after the other, in order not to feel the vacuum.

One person asked me the other day: don’t you get bored when you are alone? I answered that I get real when I’m alone. I am not afraid of being alone. It is not a depressive loneliness. It is self-sufficiency, which means you are content and complete within yourself.

When the senses are driving, you will always have to do something, otherwise the result is depression. Then, self-worth will be so low. When senses are driving you, you continuously have to do something and you will not understand the value of silence. Silence is much more valuable than anything else in this life. The only conquest which is worthwhile, in this lifetime, is the conquest of your own mind.

Enjoy the silence

Q: How can you detach from the mind?

M: This is what we just practiced during the meditation – we shift our awareness to the spine. Usually we are driven by our senses, which are oriented towards the front in just 120 degrees. When we shift our consciousness to our spine, by breathing through our spine, we start operating in 360 degrees, and this way the push of the senses is getting less. We won’t be pressured for action anymore. No “pressure for pleasure” anymore!

Actually the intellectual side of our mind is a much better friend for us, but whenever we become angry or emotional, the mind immediately puts the intellect into a locker. So that emotions are in total control. When the emotional wave is over, then our mind unlocks the intellect, and it can come out again. And then we regret, because we made a fight and we are sorry. So when you shift to your spine, when your consciousness is in your spine, then intellect will be in charge. And then you will have space between your thoughts, words and action. You will not be pressured for something. And when you are not pressured for anything, the success rate will be very high. Whenever we operate emotionally, success and failure rates will always fluctuate, like a swing – sometimes success, sometimes failure, most times worry. So this is one way of reducing the baggage.

If you practice the Power of Purity meditation, most of your stored emotions will come up. If you operate more and more from your spine, pressure will be less, anxiety is getting less and intellect is in control. Accumulation will be less.

We have various ways to reduce our baggage. Social service is very good. There is the saying “Hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray”. “If you can buy a poor man a tea, it will liberate you more than going to church or a temple. If you help someone you will have a much more expanded heart. I always recommend that. Do something beautiful. Not just with money and don’t think that you need much money to do social service. For example you can teach a child something or help someone to get a job. Some activity which is unselfish, that will liberate you.

Q: How do you control your mind – anger and restlessness?

M: You cannot tackle the mind directly. You have to watch it. That’s the only way.

What makes the mind strong? Your participation in the thought process!

If you get emotionally involved you will have agony. But when you are rooted in the spine you will automatically observe your mind. Your conscious mind that generally drives us crazy is a product of this life. Subconscious mind which has the full data is a product of many lifetimes. So, over all the lifetimes you had the same agonies, same emotions and frustrations. Then you took this body, a fresh body, with a fresh mind, which doesn’t know the past. Only your soul knows your past.

Where is anger coming from? Mostly from expectations!

We say we know something, but what do we know? We say we know many people, but we don’t know anybody. A husband does not know his wife fully. Children don’t know their parents and so on.

We are all living in a blinded world. And we do expect. He should behave in certain ways; she should behave in a certain way etc, because we like to put people into frames. We have certain ideas about people, but will they always behave like that? The point is to watch your thoughts. Where is the hook of your anger? It has to be from the past. From the past and the related expectation. And usually related to relationships. Relationships cost us a lot of problems in life; usually, because, we have expectations. But at the same time, if a relationship is based on a larger purpose – sometimes people come together to elevate each other to higher dimensions – then there won’t be conflicts. Then it will be a beautiful relationship. On that level nobody will bind the other person.

Most of our relationships are binding and conditional. If you behave in a certain way I love you and if you won’t, I don’t know you. This is how most relationships work these days. Worse is a relationship out of convenience. To be with someone because you are bored or have nothing else to do – and you form a relationship just to fill the vacuum. And it will crack just like that, because of varied expectations.

If this is the case, rather than forming a relationship of convenience, it is better to be alone and concentrate on your personal evolution. Otherwise, it only amounts to nuisance value and further agony. I always say, please use this life to understand life. And stay liberated. Liberation is state of mind – when the mind is not controlling the body and when the senses are not controlling the mind. If intellect runs our system we are safe. And remember we can only control our actions, not the results.

Q: What is happening in 2012?

M: The earth is already shifting. Also in Serbia I was asked about the recent tsunami in Japan. I was asked what I felt when the earthquake happened. I said from a distance it was just like a hick-up. From a cosmic perspective this is not a tragedy. But what is happening to Japan is serious. The earthquake hit right in the middle or stem of Japan – which is a coral formation – and the country tilted and shifted to the east.

Another aspect that is quite interesting is that Japan is the only country that is still doing whale hunting. They say they do it for scientific reasons. Last year, according to some statistics I saw, they killed about 550 pregnant whales for “scientific” research. Now, I read in a daily newspaper, that three big whaling ships were thrown onto the shore by the tsunami and a big whaling factory was completely destroyed in Ayukawa. Also, a temple dedicated to the souls of killed whales was completely destroyed. The dead whales don’t care about the temple!!!

When creation happened, the natural energy was pure – wind, water, sun –, was sufficient and did not cause pollution. And the oil that was still under the earth worked like the shock-absorbers in our cars. This was creating a balance between the continents on the whole earth. This has all gone. Over time we took all the oil from the shock-absorbers and replaced it with water. Will that work?

Whales and dolphins are very special creatures. They were the only creatures that were still energizing the earth. Their songs have soothed and nourished the earth.

The shift is also about the process of rebuilding. If you have a house you cannot repair anymore, you have to destroy it and rebuild it from scratch.

Let’s not worry about it. If you want to use the time to elevate yourself then the best you can do is shift to your spine. When a baby forms in the womb of a mother, the first part created is the spine. Every existence is based on the spine. And the spine is the stairway to heaven.

(Q&A continued but the voice recorder was full at this point).

Dolphins and whales produce healing sound frequencies

Q&A with Mohanji, Saturday 23 April (before meditation):

Q: How can I interpret the various colors that I see during the meditation?

M: There are different types of people. Some are vision-oriented. They talk about how something looks. Some are sound-oriented and they say how nice something sounds. And some are feeling-oriented. Depending on your orientation you may see, hear or feel vibrations. And in this way our meditation gives a different effect to different people. Of course you can also shift from see- to feel orientation as you progress spiritually. Colors signify the movements of energy and energy shifts. Energy is never constant.

Throughout your life your aura and your chakras will keep changing depending on situations. It doesn’t mean that chakras disappear and come back, but that the intensity of the energy in the chakras changes. If you experience a situation of deep fear for example, your heart shrinks. When the heart shrinks it cannot give full love. Sometimes you feel deep love for the whole universe without a reason.  This can also be the presence of a higher entity within you, like an angel. These things happen in life. Colours are basically a confirmation of  a shift of energy. But I always tell people to ignore it, because the colours do change quite often. So why should we hold on to some colours?

Chakras

Q: What about the colour white?

M: The chakras have the same colours as the rainbow. The colours show the state of elevation. White is the place where you originate from, where all colours come together and nullify. All colours come out of white. And all colours merge into white. Like all the souls merge into the supreme soul, and all souls come from the supreme soul. White is like a motherly light. That light is soothing, rejuvenating and nourishing. But again every meditation is different and it all depends on the constitution of the day. Many people ask me about their visions and what I think. I always answer: NOTHING!! 🙂

In this context I hear more and more about aura readings. I am not against you experimenting, but please be careful, it is your life. Prevention is better than cure. And if you are reasonably confident about yourself, you don’t need any aura or chakra readings. This is why I’m insisting on you going to the spine more and more. Because insecurities are linked to the conscious mind. You have no insecurities when you are in deep sleep and dream state. Likewise almost all these issues are related to our conscious mind and problems that we created.

Heavenly white light

Q: After yesterday’s meditation I dreamt a lot.

M: If we cut the strings of various emotions, sometimes this goes through your dreams. You will notice that in your dreams, and also when you are awake. Some people tell me that their stomach was churning, or they had a lot of hunger, or sometimes diarrhea, sometimes feeling anger and agitation. These things have to go through you, through your systems. Various things can happen, just accept it and don’t hold on to it. We are used to carrying the weight and until it is gone, we do not even realise that we were carrying something. Sometimes our ego does not allow us to get rid of the baggage. Pain is also associated with the ego. Some people like to say that they are suffering. It is so important to them.

The dream state has more room for action because it is not bound by time and space, so cleansing can happen faster. While you are sitting here you have limitations. Dare to dream!

Whatever you cannot handle pass it on to a higher level or surrender it to the God or your Guru. At work or in the office if there is something we cannot deal with, or beyond our capacity of handling, we usually consult or pass it on to our superiors, right? So let your Guru do his job. You can say: “Please take it over, I surrender this pain or experience to you.” In Shirdi Sai Baba’s case, many people asked him to take over, and it worked. Baba always said, that once you leave it and hand over, don’t look back. That means faith is very important. If you have no faith, it is as if you planted a seed and checked it every day to see if it is sprouting, then it will never grow.

Surrender and faith are important. Faith is like a big protection shield. If you surrender with faith it will work immediately. But when we just mentally say “I surrender“ it won’t work.

The more subtle you go, the more powerful you become. So if you are operating on the body level, you will just have physical power. If you are operating on your mental level, you have a different type of power. And on the intellectual level it is different again. When you are operating on the pranic level, like when we do the breathing, it is again different. But finally when you reach your soul level, you have the power of God. For example in the case of the master Lahiri Mahasaya, many times when people took a photo of him, he was not visible in the picture. So when you are operating on the soul level you become very, very subtle. Even your physical body becomes quite subtle. You will have a shape, but it is more or less transparent. On that level, you can command when the wind should stop, you can control the elements, because soul is above elements. But let’s understand, those great masters were able to heal, because they were not really worried about their body. For them the body was just a tool of expression, and they never cared, because the body has a beginning and an end anyway.

We give unnecessary importance to the body based on our identifications; and sometimes we suffer because of that. They say we should treat our body like a temple, and that means it should be pure. The god in the temple is the soul. So don’t pray too much to the body, but to the soul! And you do not need any priest or guru to bring you to your soul. Everything is given to us, we just have to see our own potential.

In the case of Jesus, He was 100% purpose bound. There was no confusion, He went ahead with His mission in a razor sharp way. He had a very clear picture that people would destroy his body some day. You know what he was attacking mostly? Inertia, tamas.  Inertia is what? – Complacency, laziness, interest in negative things and overeating, jealousy, anger, greed. During the time when Jesus was around, the community was well established in inertia. Because there were comfortably placed priests who controlled people and the life pattern was set. What do priests normally do? They control people through fear of punishment. And Jesus wanted to liberate the people. He told the people: you have the potential to reach the Father. Everything is within you. Your soul is the channel.

And when Jesus was attacking inertia or tamas, the people fought back. Because who really wants to leave their bed early in the morning when it’s still dark and cold outside. Of course, I am not talking about actual sleep here, but life in general. Jesus was trying to wake people up and told them to get up and start running. Do you think people liked that? And if society doesn’t like something they find every reason to eliminate the very cause of their dislike.

When truth is spoken, it can sometimes be very frightening. We do not like truth, we don’t like to hear it, we like to postpone the inevitable. That’s our nature. So when someone tells us the stark truth, we either prevent him or we annihilate him. Socrates told the truth, and we gave him poison. Jesus was only telling the truth and we crucified him. That’s human nature. We like to kill those people and then put their picture on the wall and say they were good. I’m not criticising anything, but let’s recognise the reality.

One thing about truth is important: when you hear the truth then your whole consciousness responds. It is not the mind responding with “Oh this is interesting, it could be true.”;  but your whole being will react and say, “Yes! This is correct.” This happens when truth is clearly stated.

Easter Sunday we are celebrating Jesus’ resurrection, using the occasion to have a drink. But do we use the day to connect to his consciousness? Use the day to connect to his consciousness! Jesus’ body has left us, but his consciousness has never left us, it is available. So if you are able to connect to his consciousness you will be able to heal people for example.

Jesus' body has left us but his consciousness has not

Q: How do we reach Jesus’ consciousness?

M: Through your spine. If you want to reach anybody, you first reach your own soul. And to reach your soul, to understand your own nature, you have to go beyond your mind. Find unity in all the three stages I explained to you before – awake state, dream state and deep sleep. First we reach our soul, then we reach other souls. Then we will become one with the supreme consciousness.

What is the difference between you and me soul-wise? We are children of the same father. Dalai Lama says it beautifully: “Remove my clothes, remove my skin, you and I are one.” It’s true. We are creating barriers based on our identities of this life. We only live 70-80 years. Such a short life! But we are hanging on to that. Saying I am Indian, I am German, I am British.

Another thing: The sun has been around all along, since earth began. It’s a witness, and we are not even able to connect to the sun!!! Once you start connecting with the energy of the sun, you will see the same energy and brightness existing within you. No difference. Sun uses the same energy, and the heat that you use to digest food. It’s all interconnected. How did we disconnect from all that.

Q: You said we can connect to Jesus’ consciousness through the spine, what about the heart?

M: Heart automatically reflects. When you connect to your spine and Jesus’ consciousness, love is the only experience you will have. Jesus’ main teaching was: “Love your enemy as you love your friend.” You cannot differentiate. You go through the spine and it is coming back to your heart.

Connectivity to anything higher has to happen beyond your senses, through the third eye. The third eye is linked to your spine and the expression happens through your heart. It’s all inter-linked. If you connect with the heart, heart cannot always stand the whole intensity. Expression can happen, no problem. Like the hands you can use them to do a job, but they are not running the show.

Look, 80% of your vital functions are controlled by your sub-conscious mind, like breathing, digestion, blood circulation. Just imagine if you gave the responsibility to the 20% conscious mind, one day you might forget to breathe!

But coming back to the point, how do you think those great Masters  function? Do you think their sub-conscious was controlling their vital functions? When in the path of liberation, slowly everything is taken over by the conscious mind, then the conscious mind is aware of every heart beat, because you are completely centered with it. You can travel through your body with every drop of you blood, consciousness-wise. When I say shift to your spine, the moment you will not experience it as an external entity, your experience and the experiencer become one in the spine. Because you will not be separate from the experience because you will merge with the spine. Then no heartbeat happens without your knowledge. Perpetually you are in a meditative state, samadhi state. Then you can control the whole body. Dimensions of existence are amazing. But people are only concerned about what to have for breakfast!

Q: The problem of addiction, it seems out of control everywhere in the world. How can we tackle it?

M: Addictions start with a thought. For example before you start drinking, you think you would like to have a beer. And before the thought comes up there is an inclination which provokes the thought. Thought is born out of that inclination. Look, I never think I should have a drink because I don’t have the inclination to drink alcohol. What comes before the inclination? Karma! So the root is karma, which you carried forward from another life, because you wanted to experience alcohol. So the seed for drinking alcohol is already in your causal layer.  When the environment is right this seed will sprout. This seed is the vasana (tendency) and when there is vasana then you get the thought. You might suppress the thought but that does not mean it has disappeared. So in specific situations the thought becomes a word, and you might say “I want a beer.” Then someone gets you a beer and it becomes an action.

Addictions happen when the subconscious takes over: conscious mind engages in doing action, and then the subconscious takes over. Then it reproduces it, as a faithful servant. And then when you reproduce it over a period of time it becomes your habit and then part of your character. How do come out of it? Reverse the process! Take it out of the subconscious and bring it into your full awareness and consciousness. And when you are in with that drink or cigarette with full attention, every drink you feel 100%, and then this habit drops slowly but surely. That’s the only way. Life is simple, isn’t it!

The beauty of simplicity

Q: What about successful relationships?

M:  Do not try to prune the tree. If you allow a person to be natural, the person will be reasonably peaceful. Accept the other one with their pluses and minuses, like yourself. Most people who go wild have been suppressed. In a relationship you can not bind anybody to you. Allow each other the freedom to be. You cannot control anybody. We don’t even have control over our children, if you try they will abandon you.

You see, everybody comes with a particular shopping list, which is not necessarily yours. We have to accept that. And everybody comes with enough potential to finish the shopping list in this life.

Often we are very dictatorial in our relationships. A Guru or Master can be dictatorial because sometimes you need a kick to leave your comfort zone. But a relationship is a mutual journey and especially if the purpose is clear, it is more enjoyable. But don’t take a destination like enlightenment as the purpose of your relationship that does not work. The enlightenment is something that happens to you when the ground is ready.

Of course, there are courses for “intense enlightenment” where you pay lots of money, but we cannot buy enlightenment in the shops. Sometime in the past I attended a session in Dubai, where a woman told the group: “I think I am slightly enlightened”. I really liked that, everybody was clapping their hands. How can you be slightly enlightened? You are either enlightened or you’re not. You know what Osho said: “It is Yes or No or Wow.” Even in the Kriya Yoga path – I’m sure you have read Autobiography of a Yogi – you just raise the kundalini up  to the third eye level during sadhana, the rest happens automatically. You cannot decide whether you get enlightenment within a few days. It cannot be promised. So, this is the reality.

Now, are you ready for meditation?

Mohanji, thank you!
